brake replacement ?s/search was done

I've done the searching on this website about these brake problems people complain about. The problem is that you guys have too much info for me to find what I'm looking for. I'm looking at an 04 with 34000K on it for my wife. The car is in great shape but the rotors are done, they've got a pretty big lip at the edge. All I want to know is what are good pads and rotors to replace the stockers with for someone who doesn't need high performance. She doesn't want a big brake kit or anything like that. I'm not buying the car if they don't replace the rotors but I'm wanting to do something about the wear before it comes around again.

You will be replacing rotors every 25-30K miles on an 04, pads every 10+K miles. A BBK pays for it'self on the 03-04s

I put 36K miles on my G in 2 years. An 03-04 is probably out of warranty...
Ohhh, I see he said it had 34K miles. Go to the dealer and get the waranty work done. After this time, you will end up paying thru the nose to stay in brakes..

Oh, I know about the warranty. We're just test driving it right now. Like I said, I'm not buying it without getting the rotors replaced, under warranty or not. I just want t a solution without just replacing the pads every 10k. That kind of wear is just not acceptable on a street car. I've never even gone through pads that fast on any of my fast cars and I autox full seasons(8+ events per year) with all of them.

Was it 3yrs and 36K or 3yrs or 36K, which ever comes first? I've always thought it was the latter but I could be wrong.

I did this kit right after my warranty was up. Was very pleased with what I ran (front only at the time). I've since sold it and upgraded. I've never tried to piece a kit like this to see if you can save any by going that route.

I got about 28,000 miles out of my stock pads. I would get them replaced under warranty now and upgrade the pads/rotors after the warranty is out.

Yes they area problem too.

I would replace them all with a good aftermarket set like Stoptech or Racing Brake along with some decent street pads like Hawk HPS (low noise, low dust and good life).

I bought a set of rotors and pads at Burtman Industries. The rotors are slotted and drilled. So far 10K miles on them and they appear to be new. Some have talked about rusting on the rotors. I see a little but not more than the stock ones. BTW, my stock rotors lasted 50K and the pads about 25K. Also, mine is an 05 "X" but that has the same brakes as the 03/04's.

Good deal, thanks for the info. At least I know I can do something about it without the whole BBK package. But at least I can use this to work them down on the price.

You can probably get a complete set of Axxis Deluxe pads and plain rotors from www.r1concepts.com for somewhere between $400 and $500. They are good rotors and pads. I have the pads right now and I'll install the rotors this weekend. PM Sam @ R1concepts. His user name is r1concepts.

I also got a full set of rotors from r1 concepts. I am local so I picked them up myself. Paid 140 bucks and they seem fine so far. I got the drilled slotted, but you can get standard for around 90 bucks.

Didn't the R1 Concepts rotors have a rusting problem? I thought I read that on this forum somewhere.
