Brake Issues
Brake Issues
I can’t even begin to tell you guys how frustrated i am right now!!! Maybe you guys can give me some recommendations but here it goes, 6 months ago i brought my car to a shop not dealer to have my brakes check, the told me i need new brakes and new front rotor on my 03 sedan, so i agree to it and have him replace it, he got me original brake pads to go along with a OEM Brembo rotors, after that my car started making noise when ever i brake, few months later i finally couldn’t stand it anymore, so i go on the forum and post a thread and got some feed back from some of you, they told me to go with Hawks brake pads because they are low dust and low noise, and some one was nice enough to give me instructions on how to replace them DIY, so i follow the steps and successfully got them done myself, all 4 of them... a month later yesterday, my car started making noise again, spoke to a different mechanic and he told me its best to get everything original from Nissan including brake pads and rotors but it is going to cost $$$ again, so here i am 6 months into the new rotors 2 sets of brake pads and $500+ out of my pocket and count less hours of working on my car and nothing was accomplish, still have the same problems... now do you guys think it could be the rotors that the first mechanic put in? Should I get new front rotors? if so what are the best brands and model that will work with Hawks brake pads? Thanks for reading my frustration.....

^You don't have to take the brake pads off. Just spray it in between the pads and rotors with brake cleaner. You'll be amazed at how much dirt gets stuck in between there. Also did you put the caliper shims on right. The caliper shims on that brake shims. There is a part on the shims that hook up to your pads. I forgot to do that so that was one of the reasons why my car was making noise. But some people have problems with Hawk pads squealing also. My Project MU squeal like crazy but with the Hawks they do it from time to time.
did you have Hawks HP Plus or HPS? I think one or the other has known to be squeeky.
Sometimes it's all about the material compound of the pads that makes a difference. Our cars are just picky about certain parts.
As for me, I went for the tirerack brand ceramic pads. So far so good, much quieter than ever before.

2004 G35 Coupe Pad and Rotor Problem
I bought my car with 24k miles last year. I just took it in for service only to find out that it needed new pads and rotors on the front. Upon checking the serrvice record, I found that they pads and rotors had been replaced/resurfaced at 22k miles. This sems like excessive wear to me. I also found out that Infiniti US felt the same way and issued a Brake Service Initiative good for 36k miles (IUS states that the pads in the 2004 were found to be too soft).
I don't know if the replacement/resurfacing work was done under the BSI. I was never informed by the selling (Infiniti) dealer about the BSI, so didn't know to have it checked prior to expiration.
My questions are:
Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the resolution of the problem?
Do I have a valid issue that is actionable with respect to the dealer's not informing me about the BSI?
Are there replacement pads/rotors that might ameliorate this problem?

Antivibration noise dampening shims are designed and manufacturered to fit SPECFIC OEM Brake PADS. They usually help non oem pads but not as much as oem.
Ever wonder why most after market pad companies don't spend the $250,000 to test and design shims for their pads on every car the composition is used [offered for sale].
The slot length and width and curved shape are the tuning along with multilayer thickness of dampening material.
This explains how some parts of the shims work to reduce noise:

ACTIVE MATERIAL
(Nitrile Rubber) on both outer surface is critical! Why shims should be replaced every other pad change!

with brakepads it's important you use our site, do a search and find out all
you can about install and how to "break the new pads in!" Without doing the
breakin chances are you'll have squeaks. It takes about 15 minutes and will
allow the pads/rotors to bond with one another........do a search!
Pinkey, you shouldn't be having those issues with almost new pads/rotors.
It doesn't sound like the rotors were installed correctly or there not the correct one for your G. Find a reliable Brake/Alignment shop in your area by
talking to people and ask them to check out your brakes. You shouldn't need
to start over will all new stuff!!
