Stock suspension, only 1 finger gap on rear left tire
Stock suspension, only 1 finger gap on rear left tire
I searched and did not find any one else with this problem. I was taking a look at the stock tires' treads yesterday and noticed that all of the other tires had almost 3 finger gaps from the top of the fender except for the rear left tire, with only 1. I'd never modified the suspension or anything like that. The entire car is stock and has about 20k miles. It is a 2004 5AT if it matters.
The only thing I can think of is that when the dealer did the fuel hose recall, something was not put back or put back properly. Is this likely? The ride appears to be fine and there aren't any noticeable sounds. Please advise... thanks.

if its under warranty i would take it in because that kinda stuff drives me crazy. its weird that just one is lower and not two on the same side.
my car sits about a half inch or so lower on the drivers side. annoys me but gonna fix it with coilovers.

I'm not even going to lie, my 06 is exactly like that. Of course Infiniti claims they see nothing mechanically wrong with it...
I have a set of coilovers that I will be installing tomorrow and seeing if that helps. If it is in fact spring sag, I plan on going back to the dealership and bitching them out.
Lekker, how much do you weigh? I am about 230 ish. I personally wouldn't think that 06's would have spring sag's in them but christ, I don't know what else it could be. I hardly ever have anyone ride in my car so it's usually just me on the drivers side.

i had to cut the right rear spring mount 0.4"to get my rear end even. my front right is still 1/4" higher than my front left. on Tein 350z Stechs.
pretty f'n annoying. it makes no sense

This makes me feel a lot better that other people are experiencing it. I was extremely nervous when I found this problem. Even more nervous when Crossroads Infiniti and the body shop I took it too said they didn't see anything. And also very f'ing angry.

Wow I'm actually quite surprised there are others with this problem because I guess I never really heard anyone talk about it. The last time the car was in the dealership for the fuel hose recall was in July 2006 and I heard they had to disassemble the entire back-end of the car just to replace a couple hoses. I hope it hasn't been too long because the dealer may blame it on my driving habits or wear & tear? My G is a 2004 year model btw. It was serviced at Infiniti of Serramonte but that location is no longer open. I'd have to bring it to Peninsula or Marin.
Have you been the only owner of the car? If not, sounds like it could possibly have been in an accident. In a perfect world they'd all be on CarFax, but people are scumbags and they're not.
Anyhow hope you figure this out and that it's nothing more than spring sag and covered under warranty!

I'm the original owner. I'll probably need to call the dealer and find out if they can check it out without a possible "diagnostic" fee that they'll charge if they find out it's not related to the previous dealer work done on the car.
Just happened to be looking at the service manual. It lists "Wheelarch Height" - measurement from ground to the top of the fender (different for 17's and 18's):
225/50R17 (Front)
235/50R17 (Rear)
Front (Hf) 691 mm (27.20 in), Rear (Hr) 702 mm (27.64 in)
225/45R18 (Front)
245/45R18 (Rear)
Front (Hf) 694 mm (27.32 in), Rear (Hr) 710 mm (27.95 in)
Hope that helps, it was at the end of the section on front suspension.

^Perfect! Thank you TheDoG35 and every1 else who chimed in with their opinions/suggestions. I will compare those numbers tomorrow morning to see where my actual wheelarch heights are at.
