heads up on EBC dimpled and slotted rotors
Just thought I'd post this for those who have ordered them or are thinking about it.
Pretty much every web retailer you find them on lists them as black zinc coated. This is an error. EBC rotors are black zinc coated for domestic only. For import rotors they only come in gold zinc.
I learned the hard way and ordered a pair only to have them show up gold. I may be a little **** but there is no way I am putting gold rotors on my car. In my opinion it is tacky and let's face it, the benefit of drilled and slotted rotors is marginal at best and most people get them for the visual.
The site I purchased them for clearly stated they were black and the pic on the site showed them to be black so i was obviously pissed and wanted to return them. I got little help form the vendor and finally went straight to the website of EBC, the actual manufacturer. They had an email link to the ceo of the company. I assumed it was a fake email but took the chance and sent an email explaining the situation. It turns out it was his actual email and he did respond saying yes EBC rotors are only black for domestic and gold for all imports. He offered to have my rotors picked up at EBC's expense and they would coat a special pair in black for me.
I was skeptical but his word was good. They issued a call tag and picked up my gold rotors a couple weeks ago. Today I received a replacement set in black and they are beautiful. They covered the return cost, recoated them and shipped them back to me for free.
I didn't buy the rotors directly from them and fixing it was not their liability but they did it anyway.
That is phenominal customer service and I need to give them props for it.
I'm still kinda stuck because I won't be able to get the rears from them in black to match. It was a one off favor and i doubt they would do it again.
I let them know I thought gold only for imports was a bad idea. If you agree you may want to email them yourself. They do read emails and respond so if they get enough feedback they may change that policy.
Bottomline, they hooked me up
