hello everyone. its about time for some new brakes for me. i have an 04 with brembos. now its time for new pads. i think i want to go with some hawk pads but im not sure yet. the point of this thread is to get everyones thoughts on turning/machining/cutting/resurfacing brembo rotors. i usually dont put new brake pads on without resurfacing rotors on a vehicle. however, now i have brembo rotors and hear a lot about resurfacing brembos, not resurfacing brembos, only doing it once on brembos, etc.
what i want to know is; is it ok to turn my brembo rotors? and how much is the minimum thickness of the rotor that i may be elligible to resurface my brembos within?

if your rotors are good and you dont want to pay to get em resurfaced.. do a light sand job on the rotors. i stuck with brembo pads. heard too many bad things about hawks, wouldnt touch any other cheap pads, and staying away from overpriced pads.

well i got hawk hps pads. i took steel wool to the rotors and cleaned them off. bedded them correctly and now i can say that i like hawk hps pads. they dont make any noise like my stock ones did.

I thought you were supposed to have the rotors turned so the pads and rotors meet flush. I am going to be doing my brakes soon and I had planned on getting them turned at PepBoys for 10$ a piece.

If the rotors aren't scored up with deep grooves, and are above the minimum thickness, then you don't need to have them resurfaced. Just clean them with some fine steel wool or sandpaper, install the new pads, and bed 'em in.
