I've been using HPS for over a year. I think they're great. I haven't tried the ceramic.

Where do you live? If you live in a cold climate, I'd avoid getting the ceramics. They may produce less dust than the HPS, but they don't bite well unless they're heated up (i.e. tracking your car & they'd be perfect). I have the HPS and I'm fairly happy with them, though I have experienced they don't bite as well as the OEM pads. I might go with an alternate pad next time. The major CON using the Hawks = far less brake dust than the OEM pads!

I am in Boston..certainly cold and have loved the HPS pads. I think the grip comments that I have heard are not true. They seems fine to me. There are no squeeks (vs the schoolbus noises I made on stock) and the dust is much improved.

I never heard that the HPS don't grip well in the cold, is that what you've read somewhere?

I'm not going to step beyond the boundaries of what I know and tell you what I "think" the differences are. Maybe someone else will chime in. Otherwise, I suggest doing your own online research to read about it OR call Hawk direct?
