Compression rod question
Compression rod question
Guys, I had both compression rod ends replaced last week underwarranty. seems like my steering wheel is now off center. I asked if this service would require an alignment and was told no, that the replacements would not affect alignment. Since I have had it back, I swear my steering wheel is now off center about an inch. Any thoughts??? Also, as I am leaving I am reminded that I will receive a survey in the mail, and that they should get a 100, well I went on vaca for a week and when I got back took my first trip and was hearing a scraping sound, get out to check it, they did not put 7 of the skid plate bolts back in, they are now replacing my skid plate as it is all cracked to s**@t from scraping. They are an hour away, yes a pain in the ***, I am not so sure about that 100% they weretalkin about!!!! For reference, these were both done I now have 56K in 15 months, and believe it or not still on the original brakes, the dealer is amazed!
The FSM (for the 04 coupe at least) calls for an alignment inspection (check alignment under unladen conditions) after replacing the compression rod. The suspension is basically the same as the '06, so the conditions should still apply.
the service department at that dealer sucks. at least they are replacing the underbody panels, but the fact that it happened is still unacceptable. i would definitely go back to another dealer (if available) to have them check your alignment. they may need to readjust the steering wheel center as well.
