Important. What changes to G35 brakes?

Hi all,

I am trying to decide if I should buy a 2003/2004 G35 or lease the new G37, but whichever car I get I will be designing brake coolers for it (www.fourproducts.com). My earlier research indicated that the older G35s used the same brake caliper as the 350Z and the Altima, so by designing for the G35 I would have coolers for the 350Z and the Altima. Are the brake calipers on the G37 the same? They offer a sport brake package on the G37. Does anyone know if this caliper is different than the 350Z and the Altima? Can anyone shed some light on these questions before I purchase or lease?

Thanks!

Joe

03/04 6MT came with Brembo 4-piston calipers front and 2-piston rear, shared with the 350Z Track model.
03/04 Auto came with smaller non-Brembo setup
05/06/07 models came with upsized brakes but not Brembo (Brembo was discontinued on the G35)
08 G37 coupe S has as described above by Jeff92se

Thanks for the replies. I have decided against the G37 and was looking at a 03 or 04 automatic, but based on your replies I have some more questions. Is there a caliper change from the 04 auto to the 05 through 07? Are the 05 through 07 calipers the same for the G35, 350Z and the Altima?

The brembo brakes don't really need the brake coolers as badly, so I am not worried about that market currently but will probably develop it in the future.

Thanks for the help!

Joe

350Z and Altima

OK, so the 03 and 04 Coupes are different than the 05 through 07s, but are the 05 through 07 Coupes the same as the 350Z and Altima? I assume they switched in 05 because of all the brake issues that they were having.

Thanks,

Joe

350Z depends on the year. 03-05 base 350Z came with 11.65x.95 front, which is the same as the 03-04 base G35 coupe. 06-08 base 350Z is the same as 05+ coupe brakes (12.6 x 1.1 front). 350Z Track model Brembos are the same as G35 03-04 Brembos for all years.

Altima looks different, though the fronts may be close:

Thumbs up Thanks for the help

Thank you everyone. I am now trying to get either an 03 or 04 G35 or possibly an '05. There is clearly a market for brake coolers for both caliper designs so I will probably purchase an 03 or 04 as project car and develop the coolers separately for the 05 calipers.

Thanks again,

Joe
