I guess you just painted the entire rotor fron and back and once the pads swept the rotor it cleaned it off. Is that safe to have paint being swept by the pads? Hmmmm kinda dumb question I guess cause you already done it.
I didnt actually paint the whole rotors...No
I used a brush and was extremely careful when painting......There was very liitle paint where the pads swept the rotors when I was done ...and yes it wore off with the first touch of the brakes.....

i actually just purchased a stg 2 upgrade for my brakes (oem size) and this is what i got:

the fronts (non-painted) ones are coated with something(zinc i guess) while the rears have the hats painted, i guess i should go ahead and paint them before i install just to be on the safe side

Personally I wouldn't paint rotors.
I suppose if you're meticulous, it can be pulled off with little risk. I'd be afraid of what the paint might do to the pads and how long it might take to work itself out of the pad, if it ever would.
I just buy zinc coated EBC rotors. The EBC pads come with a special surface designed to clear the zinc from the swept area and then essentially peel away before getting to the longer term braking material on cleanly swept rotor. No rust here.
