Brakes Squeeling, A quick ?
Brakes Squeeling, A quick ?
Hey guys
I have a 2004 G35 Sedan, the brakes were done on this Jan 2007 at 25,800 miles thru the Infiniti Dealer. I bought this car early this year with 33K miles and now at 37K the brakes are squeeling when I light press the brakes...I thought it was brake dust so I sprayed that removal thing.
The thing is that the brakes were done by the previous owner from the dealer where I bought the car...Do I have a chance at warranty replacement for a brake job?
Anything I can do?

have you found a solution to the brakes squeaks? Let me know if this souns familiar. Every moring or when the car has been sitting for some time, when you back up from a garage or parking spot your car squeals and then after the your car is on the road the niose stops.
I have 03 G35 coupe. I got tired of the brake dust, the squeal, changing front pads and rotors almost every year. I replaced my front brakes with brembos now I'm just laughing. The problem only lies in the front brakes.
The problem is, your brakes squeal even though the rotors and the pads are perfectly fine. The front brakes wear off way too fast and they give a lot of brake dust. I tried to to replace my front pads with harder material and the squealing got much worse.
The solution is to replace the front brakes either with oem brembos or 2005+ oem brakes (these will be bolt on) or do an after market setup in all four corners. I have seen some people with stoptech in the front and stock in the back but I don't think this is recommended as it add front bias. Even with oem brembo only in the front, there is still a little bit of front bias but is not a concern unless you drive your car in the icy long winter.
I had to slam on my brakes all out from 60km/h for some idiot running a red light and the car stopped. My setup was done by Infinity dealer.

humm.. sounds good. I have and 04 G35X and based on STILLENRedline's recomemdation I think going with 05 set up is the more economical way and it should deal with the squealing. I would like brembos, but in 9 months or so, I may upgrade to an 07 or 08 G35. For now I just cant stand the noise anymore. Now, about how much do you think it cost to upgrade to 05 brakes on my car? Forgive my ignorance, but do I also have to replace the rotors?
Thanks I will search. Also I see some sets of rotors and pads on Irotors that seem decent. What do i need from the 2005 model? It is just pads or do i need the entire braking parts (rotors, pads, shams ect...)

Yes you need the whole front set.
Rotors, calipers and pads. The rotors on the 2005+ are biggrer and the calipers are two piston instead of one. The pads are bigger and different shape I would assume

Did you solve this by changing the front pads/rotors, or are you still working on it.
StillenRedline suggested upgrading the the braking system to the 2005 model, which has a slightly larger rotor, and a I think a 2 piston caliper. This is better system than what is on the 04. The proble is, you have to replace the rotors, pads, and calipers. That can become expensive if you are just interested in getting rid of the annoying squealing. What i am going to do is since I am up for new brake pads to begin with, is buy 4 new sets of rotors form Irotor and 4 set of ceramic pads and that should deal with the squealing. I frist considered to doing the upgrade, as suggested, but calipers alone cost about $70 to $90 bucks and you need 4 of them. On top of that you need to add the price of 4 set of rotors and pads, plus the work for guy to do it if you dont have time to DIY. I am getting 4 sets of rotors form Irotors with ceramic pads for $240 and getting a friend to do the work of for $100 (that's afavor). A mechanic would change $250, maybe..
