Do you happen to know the weight difference between the 05' brakes and these?

I was wondering how much added "un-sprung" weight this kit would add.

One last question: Do you have to completely disassemble the calipers to have them powder coated or can you leave them assembled?

Thanks for the nice write up! I've been waiting for someone to review these on their G35 since the price is very attractive.

The only thing I'm waiting for before I pull the trigger on these is a 2-piece rotor. Add some nice pads, fluids, and SS line, and these brakes should perform great at the track... for a fraction of the price of other kits!

I might powdercoat them blue or black.

I'm waiting for lightweight 2-piece rotors too... and cheaper bracket (there are a couple in the works). I wonder if the calipers alone will be more pricey once after market rotors are released?... I might get the calipers now and wait on rotors... I really dont want to buy the whole kit and have yet another set of rotors laying around.

I was also worried about that. But I believe some vendors might start making a "package/Upgrade" deal for the aftermarket 2 piece rotor with the Akebono brakes. Atleast one vendor implied that...

P.S. Everythingg35.com has great prices on the Akebono BBK's. And I believe they are also working on the brakets.

the brackets are already available for MUCH cheaper on a made to order basis from I think member Nismo G. I would PM him about a set. I believe there is a thread already about them.

last I read he was concerned about liability (rightly so)... I'm going with a set from an established company - I feel more comfortable that those will be well tested since liability from failure would hit a big company harder than someone who doesn’t have as much to lose (no offense to NismoG at all, just my personal way of doing biz).

Henry mentioned one of the 2 companies I've heard are making them... I'll go with whoever gets it ready first.

Ok, so I've been gone for a while but now I'm back....I've had a few weeks with the brakes and all I can say is D*MN they stop. I have BFG KDW2 tires that are worn down and have really gotten hard due to multiple heat cycles from the track. Even with these tires, the brakes still stop like crazy and if I want, will fairly easily over power the tires activating the ABS.

I actually just let my friend drive my car today. He has a Z with a 14" 6/4 stoptech kit on and so i was curious to get his impression on the kit. Well, he was very impressed. He actually commented on the fact that the he preffered the pedal feel of my kit to that of his own. My predal as I mentioned in the earlier post is stiffer but not super still and required more travel than I expected to really get the pads biting. I now amend my comments, to saying the pedal travel and feel is stock same as it was stock.

Also while riding as a passenger in my car with him driving, I really got the chance to appreciate the power of these brakes, I actually felt like the seatbelt was going to collapse my chest, I then began to giggle like a 12yr old school girl.

I have still yet to hear a peep from them in term of noise and the car feels very predictable and stable under the hardest of braking which indicates to me that the proper brake balace is still maintained.

I personally do wish there was a bit less pedal travel in the brake; not a big deal by any stretch but something I would prefer, my friend on the other hand loves the pedal travel and the ability to modulate the brakes force that is afforded.

But all in all, Im absolutely in love and can not wait to hit the canyons with these!

^^^ thanks for the review - nice write-up...

So no notable negatives from the weight of the rotors? Sounds like you dont drag race (just road course?) so I guess you havent determined loss of acceleration based on ET - but how about based on driving? Do you feel less acceleration from stop or slow roll?
