still the megan kit is way more cost efficient. Plus you can get the proper recommended pads by someone who has been using and tuning with those brakes for a year.

^^^
Let's keep at least this thread to its topic. Several of us are very interested in the Akebono kit and eagerly awaiting rotors, pads and more reviews... we are all well aware of other products out there – but this thread is about the Akebonos, not “what brake choices do we have”.

As far as weight and its effects on acceleration....I haven't noticed any and Im typically pretty sensitive about that stuff (not to say that there isn't any). Also the biggest difference in weight between the rotors exist between the front rotors. The rears dont weigh very much more. Since its the rears that are the drive wheels, I doubt the effect on acceleration exist beyond only a minimal extent.

... still patiently waiting for those 2-piece rotors. I can't believe how long companies have lagged behind in this.

Thanks for the update by the way!

I've heard Stillen's are 1-2 weeks out and Stoptech is right around the corner as well... probably others too...

That's what I've been hearing for months

I'm more interested in Stoptech's kit than Stillen.

Great write up Omeezy.

Definately keep us updated with your driving impressions, as well as what rotor options you decide to go with.

i know stoptech released there 1 piece rotors, but no 2 piece yet....does anyone know if there is a weight difference in stoptech's 1 piece over the oem's?

edit: apparently they are only available for the front as of right now

I don't think it matters. If you have heavy front rotors/wheels/tires or whatever, that mass still has to be rotated in order for the car to move.
