I have done it before it's easy , just take off the brake sensors , unbolt the bottom of the shock , the sway bar bolt , bolts on top of shock and the bolt of the top control arm that is facing the car and pull up on the shock and take it out

^ woah, sounds super easy for you. I did it myself, but was in my friend's shop. Don't you need to compress the springs to put the shocks back?

well you need to compress the springs to take them off the shock , but when you put the new set of springs on the shock you don't need to for that nut that goes on top of the shock will compress it back down , it sucked for me a little because I did it on the floor in front of my house

To lower or not to lower?

I have an 05 coupe and I want to have it lowered.

I am not hardcore and don't want it to be lowered to much. The two springs I was looking at was Eibach pro kit and sports line. Prokit does apx. 1" and sports line does about 1.6".

I am a rookie to this. What should I do? I just want to give it a nice crisp look.

Also, anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks for your help guys.

Are you using spring compressors on the front?! You'll need them...

unless you want to spend $1k plus for springs, camber kit, etc - the only choice that i know of that you have for a conservative and cheap drop (that doesn't require a camber kit) is Tein G35 H Techs.

i dropped on these a few weeks ago and WAS able to get back in OEM specs - meaning no camber kit needed. here is a thread that has a before and after comparison from my drop.

G35 H Techs don't drop much (about .5" front and .35" rear - visit Tein's site for exact numbers on all their models) BUT you'll likely be able to save $ from not needing suspension adjusters and all. this was the goal i was going for - just kill some of the wheel gap and only spend around $500 (springs plus install)...so it fit me well.

It's not that I don't believe you, I've heard stories those Honda guys doing crazy stuffs in their back yard. I really forgot how it goes, but w/o the compressor and using the nut on top of the shock to compress you are asking for trouble. You can damage the threads. Took me 1/2 an hour in a shop, how long did it take you w/o all the tools? Just being curious, not a mocking question. =)

For OP, i'm using the Eibache 1" drop. Mistaked was that I didn't get me the camber kit until the tires are gone. So if you get the Eibache, get the camber kit as well, may cost you few more hundred dollars but save you a set of tires.

Thanks everyone who replied and sheded some light on this issue for me, particularly Fishhouse.

Fishhouse - I think I am going to take the pro kit and drop my car about an 1" in total. Ur car looks nice with the .5" drop which leads me to believe that 1" would be ideal for me. I was looking to spend apx. 800 bucks. From the posts I am presuming that I will need a camber kit if I go down 1"? I have no idea what that is but when I ebayed the cost of this I learned that it is apx. 100 bucks, which I am willing to fork out.

No doubt - I will certainly have a professional do it. I am a lawyer - and know next to nothing about this stuff.
