03 6MT coupe w/ Brembos: new brake pads / rotor suggestions

I just called Infiniti to see how much they'd charge for front brake pad replacement and they told me $300. No thanks. I then asked them how much it would be just for labor if I brought them my own brake pads. They said $125. Is it worth it?
1) How easy (or not so much) is it to do brakes on the Brembos compared to regular calipers? How long did it take and what tools did you need?
2) What kind of brake pads did you get and where did you get them? How much were they?
3) I might need new rotors, but haven't looked around. Is it more beneficial for me to get mine machined (if they're machineable) or get new ones? What are benefits of drilled or slotted rotors if I'm not racing at all? If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
thankssssssssssss

1. The DIY section actually shows u step by step on how to change ur own pads front and rear. Honestly from other brake pad changes I have done it doesnt take too long if u make the time and have a few basic tools.
2. Hawks are pretty good, Project Mu's are awesome and some gus are using axxis pads I believe. They do have a few more...but im doing research on that question as well. So far im leaning toward the Project Mu Type NS pads.
3. Yes if u can get them turned (Machined)...Yes...I would. True benefits of drilled/slotted on the street are nothing. They disapate brake heat and gases if I remember correctly a lot faster if ur on a track/rally course if ur constantly braking hard. They are both the same on the street as far as stopping distance. The regular brakes rotors are also suppose to last longer because the can be resurfaced and will not crack like most drilled rotors or some slotted ones. Anyone else can chime in if I have that incorrectly...Im going off of memory right now. But thats just my .02

thanks for the info!
I'll definitely be doing them myself... I watched a DIY video the other day and noticed they put some sort of lubricant or adhesive or something on the brake pads before putting them back in the caliper. Is this necessary? If so, what do I need for it and where do I get it?
Thanks again for your help!

This is exactly the thread I was looking for, awesome.
I just came back from the dealership with the need to change my two front brembo break pads and a 400 quote !
So I'm trying to figure out which pad to get.... So as said in the first reply, would Hawks be a non-expensive, quality replacement?
Thanks!
