tell me about coil overs (whats hot and whats not)

No problem.
The best thing to do would be to get coilovers and camber kits front and back. You can adjust height and dampening settings. Then an alignment and that's it. Nothing else to do. IMO it is well worth it. I dont regret it one bit.
If you just do springs your oem shocks will wear out. The spring rates are different compare to the oem shocks. Coilovers are springs and shocks that are designed to work with each other.
You will also get an uneven drop, you can get an even drop though if you look for the right set-up.
If you dont want to go the coilover route you can get aftermarket springs close to the oem spring rates and just a rear camber kit and the sport struts and shocks.
Yes i have a sedan, if someone within the years 03-06 says they have an X...its always a sedan. Coupes in those years never came with awd.
Only the g37 coupe did but that was afterwards.

Just ordered the Function & Form Type 2 coils. I got them through the group buy in marketplace from Assultech. The MSRP is 1300 but they are currently selling them for 875... cheapest anywhere. They have all the features youd expect like 32 way adjustable dampening, adjustable height and adjustable camber plates and pillow mounts. The Tein Basic's dont even offer the adjustable dampening and they cost more!
Grab this deal before it goes away, I'm sure I will enjoy mine once they are installed.
Free Shipping BTW

I do have them. They are amazing. Im not sure on the exact measurement. But i had a 5 finger gap before with stock. I had it as high as a 2 finger gap, now it's a 1 finger gap.
These coils drop you alot, i have plenty of room left to lower it more. They are adjustable so you can have whatever height you desire.
The ride is up to you because again they are adjustable. But when on the softest setting. It's like stock, maybe just a tiny tad bit stiffer. When on the hardest setting...well lets just say you wont be able to drink that cup of coffee on the way to work lol. (Unless you are stopped haha)
No noises so far.

nice! post a pic of it man!!! thank you for sharing your knowledge with me.. it is greatly appreciated!
now when you are talking about the gap, where are you starting the measurement from? the tire to the fender? or the fender to the rim?
Also, if i did decide to go with the springs (its a money issue right now bc i didnt add camber kits to my suspension budget) would i need spacers (guessing thats what spacers are used for) just in case the rear is lower?.. cambers front and rear?

I have an 04 sedan dropped on greddy type s coilovers. I traded a set of 19" axis hiros for them. Brand new they are about $1800, and the guy I traded was asking $1200 so they aren't crazy expensive. These also happen to be the only coilovers from greddy that can utilize an electronic damper control box.
I absolutely love them. The ones I have are for the 350z, but they fit perfectly. They have a decent ride quality and are awesome quality (pretty much anything from them is).

Camera is broken at the time. No problem anytime thats what forums are for lol
The measurement is from the tire to the fender
Are you talking about spacers on the camber arms or spacers on the wheel hub?
Well Camber spacers just allow you to run more neg or pos camber. Im preety sure they come with the camber arms when you purchase them.
Wheel spacers are used either to make more space(hence the name) to fit a BBK. Or for looks wise, which is to make the wheel in line with the fender(Flush set-up). Everyone has their own opinion on what a flush-set-up is. It just pushes the wheel out more in plain english.
So it really depends on you. Most people run spacers though who are lowered. Especially if they have aftermarket rims.

Im not too familiar with springs. I know z/g spring combo is preety even. I was going to go with the H&R springs for the sedan back in the day. Search it up.
sweet! ive made up my mind on getting springs, but dont know what kind. but it always bothers me that the rear is lower than the front 9xout of 10.
any suggestions on what kind of springs what would give me a pretty even drop? im most likely going to keep my stock 17".

Most people here drop on Tein 350z h-tech(for a mild drop) or Tein g35 s-tech/Tein z350 s-tech depends on how low you wanna drop. Spring rate is another important factor you should look into. You don't want it off the OEM spring rate too much if you do want to keep the OEM struct/shocks.
Here is what you should start off for your research.

thanks for the advice bestswat. ive read through some forums and theyre saying that most of the springs on the sedan wont fit the g35x. im a little discouraged about it and thinking about not even dropping my car. unless you have any knowledge you can share upon what springs would fit the g35x. PLEASE let me know.

I just realized you are driving a G Sedan! My bad... I don't know much about sedan since I own a coupe, but I found some pix which people drop on Tein h and s techs on sedans for you. Personally, I would go for coilovers. But the springs look good on sedans too. Here are the links.
