DBA/Hawk Problems

So I have been trying for over a month to find a solution to this problem.... I installed DBA 4000 rotors and Hawk HPS pads on the front of my '04 Coupe, and for some reason, they have been "clicking" ever since I first drove off from the dealer that installed them for me. And before you ask, yes I followed the burnishing procedures to the letter, and I even contacted both Hawk and DBA, but both companies want to blame the other, so I can't get a straight answer. I also took the car back into the dealer, and they said that the brakes were "dragging" and that most likely the slots in the rotors were hitting the pads and causing the noise. Has anyone had any experience with this? And can you help me find a solution for this quite annoying problem? I'm really getting tired of the noise when I'm driving.

I'm not sure this is what your problem is, but I've heard slotted rotors can make that noise, which is why I chose not to get them. Do you have a set of older OEM pads that you can try to see if it's the pads? Also, has the caliper been through a lot of miles and grime? Maybe the pistons are getting a little sticky.

It is the pads rubbing against the slots.

I know it's the pads hitting the rotors, but with all of the people running this exact setup, I haven't heard of anyone complaining about any noise. So given that this is a rare situation, I'm just trying to figure out how to fix it. But thanks for the responses guys.

Are the rotors installed on the correct side? Some rotors if not all, are directional.

I have the DBA 4000 rotors with pMU pads and get the same sound when braking. Sounds liks a faster version of the wheel on wheel of fortune or something like that. Just clicks. I assumed its because of the slots.

if you have Brembos, then you can get shims to help quiet them down.

Just to clarify a little bit.... The noise only happens when the car is moving, it goes away when the brakes are applied, or rather when the car slows down, idk. And they are not Brembos... Just wish I could afford to do a bbk and be done with this.

Caliper hardware kit is rubbing on the rotor. The "kit" is the bracketing that the pads float on.

^ wrong

The 4000 series have small slots(wipers) that face the opposite direction. that is what makes the sound
