Got my car in the shop.. The rear hieght setup fine, the rear passenger did also, the drivers rear is near maxed out and the tire is still stuffed up in the fender, compared to the passenger side its alot different on height setting. anything that you have ran into to check for?

 

Are you sure install was done correctly? Pictures of install would be helpful

 

Went to the shop that has my car.. Looks like one of the springs settles differently than the other, swapped one for one on the sides and the other side dropped. at max height (the collar even with bottom of adjuster) on the one side the tire sits flush with fender, on the other side with adjuster about 1/4 lower there is a 1/4 gap. There going to machine a 1" spacer to go on top to provide more adjustment. Ill post pics of end result and anyone else interested in spacer info ill have it for you then. my goal for the rear is to have about a 1/4" gap. fyi, rear tires are 245/45/18 on 350z track wheels (18x8.5)

 

It's not the problem with the coilovers, it's how our cars sit. Rear driver side always sits a tad higher than the rear passenger. you can:

A. Raise the rear passenger up a lil
B. Remove one collar on the Rear Driver

I opt for option A since mine is a DD. Don't wanna sit too low. So the top of the rear tires are just about tucked.

Edit: I just reread your post and you want to RAISE the car at max height?

1/4 inch gap is doable on the coilvers without any special spacers or what not. Don't get why you need the spacers for.

 

drivers side is the side that is sitting lower, with the rear maxed out there is 0 clearance (tire is sitting on quarter panel) so there machining 1" spacers to go above the spring to put the adjustment in the center to allow me to set it to a 1/4" gap, probally a total of 1/2" from where it is now once springs settle.

But what do you mean by maxing out? Meaning you can't raise it any higher?

I know for stock BC coils, you can actually have your car back to stock height if desired. My "problem" was that I couldn't slam the car all the way with BC coils. I'd have to opt out for 180mm coils instead.

 

He is a sedan and assuming he is running bc coils that were meant for the coupe I would assume he gets a drop just from switching to coupe pieces, like how g35 coupe springs on a sedan cause a drop in ride height. This may not allow him to get back to sedans normal height.

 

^+1. At least I think. I have these coil overs on my coupe and i can be at OEM height if i want to, there is no reason to be maxed out and not have clearance. So it is either the wrong coilovers or the install was done incorrectly.

 

^But if he wants to go back to stock sedan's height, then that'd defeat the purpose of having the coilover isn't it? I mean even though it's meant for the coupe, he can still at least get 2-3 finger gaps in between at max height.

I'm wondering if the shop got the terminology wrong about adjusting the rear coils. Some shops might make simple mistake by raising the rear colars all the way up thinking that would raise the car but in fact it's the opposite.

 

I doubt it, if he went full low on bc coils on a sedan it would be slammed, they would definitely realize it didn't go the right way. But pics of install would be the best.
