squeek when going over a bump. shocks/struts?
I have noticed lately that when I go over a bump that is significant enough for my car to what I assume is be damped by the shocks/struts, i hear a squeek. it sounds like a metallic squeek (if there is such a thing). Most often its when I will be driving alongside something that would bounce the noise back to me (side of an underpass, a fence that is close to the road, etc.
Obviously you can't diagnose anything, but can someone lead me in the right direction before i take it to a shop and try to explain to them a "noise"... (my worst fear, because they NEVER hear anything when you bring a car in).
Thanks guys.

Sway bars tend to make noise (squeaking, clunking, banging, knocking, all different weird sounds) with dry bushings or worn endlinks... On the other hand I just greased my sway bar bushings and replaced end links all around and I'll still have a squeak too.... I believe it might actually be in the car somewhere, not the suspension. Yours may very well be a completely different story.
I'd like to hear what others have to say as well.

Sorry about that
06 auto and nothing aftermarket at all. 45,000 miles.
Not the original owner, so I can't say if anything was done prior to my ownership, but I believe everything is stock (no aftermarket sways, just some potenza tires).

Never grease bushings, they don't grease them at the factory so why would you? Greasing a noisy bushings is equivalent to greasing noisy brake pads, Yeh they will be quieter but...
If they are noisy replace them, grease won't fix a worn bushing.
If your noise is in the front end and it it makes loud clunking noise when going over bumps it could be the compression rods. Squeaking noise will probably be worn struts or bushings.

I get a squeak from the rear. It is so annoying. This happens when I'm going slow on a bumpy road. Before I wasn't able to locate the sound, but now it is more clear. I'm running all stock, and 71k miles. My car info is in my sig. This past weekend I sprayed some WD-40 on the endlinks where it connects to the chassis and the swaybar. I haven't heard any squeaks so far. But I'll drive with the radio off and see how it is.

bushings??
Got some clunking and creaking going on in my 06 coupe with a lil less than 24,000... Just got some SPL solid compression rod bushings and solid front lower inner control arm bushings. Not installed yet but will let you guys know how they work when ever I get time to get them in. Or if anyone else can chime in, please do.
