Usually you do it when your changing out your pads and rotors. If your really set to do it yourself you can follow just about any google search.

Um, if you have gone 47,000 miles w/o a brake fluid flush, do it. By the dealer or other mechanic.

Probably should do a clutch fluid change as well if you have a manual.

I'm at 120K and just changed my brakes, should I do a brake flush or just continue to top it off when the brake light comes on?

Brake fluid should be flushed at least every 3 years. Brake Fluid is Hydroscopic so it will absorb moister thus lowering your boil points, if this goes for too long and too much water is absorbed it can start to rust the system. The ABS system is not cheap.

You can DIY this by buying a bleeder(Motive Brake bleeder) for 50 bucks and fluid at Advance (Valvoline Synthetic DOT3/4) for like 8 bucks for 32OZ you need about 1.5 quarts, I do 2 quarts since once you open the containers you cant really seal them well enough.

You will need to jack your car up and have some vinyl tubing(homedepot) and a bottle (empty 2 liter)

If your brake fluid has to be topped off, you should find the leak. It may not be a big deal, but the system should never require topping off. For me, brakes are too important to not be working 100%. I recommend at least having a trusted mechanic take a look.

Like mentioned above, a brake flush should be done at least every three years.
