HELP: First time replacing 2005 g35 shocks...

This is my first time changing the shocks on a G35. When I changed the shocks on my integra, I needed a coil spring compressor because the springs needed to be removed to replace the shocks but from the DIY guides for changing shocks on a G35, none of them states that I need a coil spring compressor and from the pictures, it doesn't seem like the springs need to be taken out to change the shocks. Is this true? Can I replace the REAR shocks without having to compress the springs after on a G35?

I just want to make sure before starting to change out the springs without the spring compressor.

Also, does anyone have any good and detailed DIY for replacing shocks? I found one on G35driver but it wasn't very descriptive... so I am still not 100% sure of the procedure.

If you guys have changed your REAR shocks on a G35, roughly how long did it take you guys?

Thanks!
Any comments will help!

You WILL need a spring compressor for the front struts. The rear shocks do not need a spring compressor as they are separate from eachother.

Search for a DIY on my350z.com they have more DIY's.

You need a spring compressor for the front struts. The shocks and springs are seperate in the rear so you don't need one.

DIY for springs, but it could help you out somewhat:

Rears are pretty easy and take only about 15-30 minutes per side depending on how frozen up the lower bolts are.

Thank you everyone for your comments.
I replaced my rear shocks yesterday and it took about 1.5 hrs for one side and 45min for the other side once I knew what to do.

I only had one jack and here is a tip I'd like to give that I didn't see on any of the DIY guides to make your life easier when replacing the rear shocks.

When I was putting the 17mm bolt back on, the bolt wouldn't slide in all the way to the other side because the hole didn't match up. I removed the jack but replaced it with the rear tire I removed and put it where the jack was. Then I used the jack to bump up the springs and the holes matched perfectly. Hope this helps!

I feel like such a *****, could not get the 17mm lower bolt off the rear shocks on a 2005 g35 coupe. Was unreal how much force I put in, PB blaster, hammers, 2 separate impact guns you name it. I put the jack right below the rear lower link like the manual said and jacked up slightly. Not sure what the hell else i can do

No choice. They have to be cut off then.

Dont have to jack it up at all. Could be putting extra friction in this way, or ur looking at it backwards and have been driving it in more.
