G35 to 350Z suspension Question

A while ago, I bought some used revised 350z rear springs/shocks off ebay. I wanted to get a slight drop and the "sport suspension" springs. (I couldn't find any G35 sport springs for sale.)

The seller said they had less than 20k miles on them before he upgraded to nismo suspension on his Z. (He even shipped the stuff in his nismo boxes.)

Wife is away with the kids, so I finally have time to do the suspension and brakes that I've been needing to do. Started with the rear. I get to the point of putting on the shocks. I notice the the 350z shock is REALLY shorter than the g35. I look online and find a vid on youtube where someone actually showed the lengths of the two.

G35 = 25 1/32 (mine matches this)
350z = 23 9/16 (mine is actually 21 5/32)

Now it wont go back together because the new shocks are WAY too small. At this point, I can put the G35 shocks back on and go for a short period while I get something else. But I'm hesitant about diving into the front stuff because I'd REALLY rather not do that twice! Anyone have an idea of what might be the matter?

Is that measurement with the shock fully extended? It should extend on it's own, but did you pull the shaft to make sure it's fully extended?
What do the shocks look like? Color? Markings?

Yes, fully extended. I tried pulling it and it didn't come out any more. I even compressed it a couple times to see that that convinced it to come out. Both are the same.

They are part marked 56210 CF400 with a purple tag and have a "D" on them plus another set of numbers 080620-A. I'll try and upload a picture I took of the tag for both the G and Z.

The purple is "350z", the green is off the G35.

I know it's old, but did you ever solve this issue?
I was about to install 350z shocks and springs on my g35c

I have revised 350Z suspension on my Sedan and install was no problem. IDK what the op ever figured out but my install was 45min start to finish.

The front struts fit no problem. Ended up getting a set of g35 shocks for the back.

on a side note, did the 350z revised springs end up lowering your rear?
from what I read they only seem to lower the front not the back ...

how much lower did you get in the front? 1/4 or 1/2 inch? different people say different things ...

to lower the rear did you do the spring mount mod?

Honestly I was doing it more for the spring rates than the drop. It is easier to find 350z stuff than g35 sport springs.

I did compare the rear springs side by side. The z springs were deffinetly shorter. But I didn't measure the stance before and after.

The OP has a sedan. In my experience 350z revised springs drop the sedan about an inch all around. Sedans don't typically do the spring mount mod.
