OEM Shocks

Got a quick question for anyone.

Trying to buy some OEM shocks. The owner of the shocks has kept them in the garage for a few years after he used. Is this ok for the shocks?

Thanks

Shouldn't hurt anything. Try to quickly press each one of them straight down by hand. The quicker you press the more resistance you should get. They should all feel about the same. If one of them goes down way too easily, it is blown.

+1 on Brando's post. Also ask the seller how many miles are on them. If more than 30k mi, I'd just wind up buying new ones or look for ones with less mileage on 'em. Think rule of thumb for shocks' lifespan are like 45-50k miles?

Oh and if you've got a sport coupe/sedan, try to match shocks/springs i.e. sport shocks for sport springs. Sport shocks for nonsport springs would be ok I think. Nonsport shocks for sport springs would wear out faster as the spring rates would not match.
