Swap 06 brakes to 04 Brembos

Would it be a bad idea to swap my 06 brakes to 03-04 Brembos?

I'm curious about the same thing... I want to put my brakes back to stock for now, looking for a set of used oem brakes after I take off my BBK. Do brembos direct bolt-on/swap out? Obviously, need brembo rotors, calipers, but are the lines the same? Any performance difference between brembo and 05-07 sport brakes? (or is it 06-07?)

thanks

Hmmm, 07 g35 sport (sedan) brakes are pretty huge and wayyy less than brembos.

is it an upgrade? yes, the Brembo calipers are lighter and the rotors are bigger. also there are way more pad and rotor upgrade options and they look better too. the reason a lot of people w/the revised 05+ brakes don't upgrade is because stock for stock there's not enough of a difference to justify the cost.

the swap is a direct bolt-on, you just need the rear caliper mounting bolts(front bolts can be reused) and you'll also need to trim the rear dust shields.

Ake's only beat Brembo's in look's and that's subjective. even w/2pc rotors, Ake's are still heavier than Brembo's w/stock 1pc's.

You can, but there are some differences beyond just the discs being bigger and thicker. The '04 with Brembos had a different master cylinder (1.0626" bore vs. '05-07 bore of 1.00"), and a different brake booster (twin diaphragm with 8.07" and 9.06" diameters vs. single '05-07 diameter of 10.04") as well, so the bias and feel may be slightly different. I'm not sure what the real-world implications are of this, though it could result in slightly longer stopping distances.

My G is an 06. I like the looks of the Brembos and I heard they perform better?

What's your definition of "perform better"? They wont make the car stop in shorter distances, at least in one-off stops. In extended high speed canyon carving, repeated high speed stops or track use, the Brembos will experience less brake fade and the pedal will hold its firmness better, but if you're mainly talking everyday street use, you won't notice much difference other than looks and pedal feel.
