another bad wheel bearing
another bad wheel bearing
ive been searching all day but cant find the answer? im pretty sure my driver side rear wheel bearing is shot but i wanna know before i change it and that not the problem.
symptoms:
- whinning (not clicking) noise at low speeds, probably at high speeds as well but i dont hear it. Ive read that due to the bad bearing that the rotor will sit on the brake pads causing this noise.
- at high speeds (above 75mph) the ride is really ruff from the driver side
- also my driver side FRONT tire is getting really eaten up, dont know if this has to due with the wheel bearing or another problem.
- heres the thing thats confusing, normally with a bad wheel bearring is the wheel if off the floor, you should be able to wobble, shake, etc. the wheel. but with mine you cant, it pretty much has no play. i have a really stiff suspension setup (Bc coils, spc camber/toe arm) maybe thats why im not getting any play???
any help is appreciated???

I'd jack it up and check the bearring right away. I ignored mine thinking it was my wheel adapter and the wheel almost fell off on John Young and Oak ridge on my way to work. I limped my way to the nearest shop and proceeded to drop $400 on a bearring and rotor. Anything Infinity is alway more and they suggested I change the other one.
Take it to a suspension shop so they can inspect everything if you can't seem to find the problem.
Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. Have you checked them all? Or just one?

What I did was I put the car on my lift put it in 1st and just let the wheels spins reved it up while my friend listened. And heard the same noise. If the noise is only while you are driving than you know it is something that moves so bushings are out. Move your rear tires side to side if you still hear the noise on the same spot than you know the tires are not the problem
