Lower ball join location???? Compression rod bad?
Lower ball join location???? Compression rod bad?
This is actually on my gfs car which is currently out of state so i cant phyiscally look at it. Her local shop was able to verify that the right lower ball joint had play which was making the noise you would hear during turns. I already suspected this due to the fact both boots were ripped and would only be a matter of time before dirt would get in. Where are the lower ball joints located, ive tried doing research on this but cant get a definite answer...the dealership told me it was part of the knuckle, but ive also seen writeups where the control arm is mentioned. Im trying to confirm this bc if its the knuckle then ill rent the tool instead of paying 400 plus to replace it but if its the control arm then ill just replace the control arm since that would be easier than trying to press in the new one. Vehicle is a 2003 Sedan
On a side note i noticed there was a bulletin posted on all data about bad compression rods causing our cars to have a pull. In order to fix this does the whole rod need to be replaced or can you just replace the bushings. thanks for the clarification.

Take a look at this Coupe image,
the only way to get the Ball Joint Lower from Nissan/Infiniti
is the whole knuckle

Head over to Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com). You can pick up the lower ball joints from there at a reasonable price.

I've purchased a few things from them, including lower ball joints. I had no issues at all. The pricing is right, shipping is quick.
