Strange braking noises
Strange braking noises
For the past few weeks I have had interesting sounds coming from my brakes/car.
The first sound makes it seem like the brake pads need to be changed ASAP.
The second sound shows up from in turning the vehicle. The noise is similar to a slight high-pitched whine. It's hard to describe it honestly.
I took my 05 Coupe into the dealership from where I purchased it. They claim I still have 70% of my pads left to go. They also state that G's are notorious for being loud during braking. This makes no sense to me as the loaner G37 they gave me was absolutely quiet, my mom's Infiniti is silent and as are other G's I'm around on a daily basis at work.
Interestingly, my break noise and the turning whine disappeared when I went to go pick up the vehicle. They stated they "power washed" the brakes as brake dust can get between the pads and the rotors. They suggested in the future to clear this problem by "throwing the car in reverse up to 20 MPH and hitting the brakes hard...to 'dislodge' any brake dust.'"
Just now driving home from work, 24 hours after being "serviced" the noises are back full force.
Anyone know what's going on?

If the noise gets louder as you turn and it's a whining or grinding noise it's possible one or more of your wheel bearings is giving out. How many miles on your coupe?
I got the car checked out when I picked her up back in July, and everything looked fine. The car only has 35000 on her clock. I can't imagine there being any significant problems for a car that has low mileage and was a weekend driver for the previous owner.
