2005 AWD Front Lower Shock Absorber Bushings

Hello,

I have a 2005 G35X and I need the shock absorber bushings bad! This is connecting to the transverse link according to the service manual or lower control arm as others may call it. I bought the Whiteline W52992 kit but the sleeve doesn't fit over the shock absorber bolt. However, the bolt fits snugly inside the bushing without the sleeve.

This is my daily driver and I need it back on the road.

My question is does anyone know of the correct bushing and sleeve I can buy OR can I just use this bushing without the metal sleeve?

I suppose it will shorten the lifespan of the bushing but I need it back on the road.

Dealer wants 282 and 275 for each control arm because they don't sell just the bushings.

If I missed a post discussing this please call me a noob and point me in the right direction!!!

Greatly appreciate the help

Pelton

OK So now I know what the purpose of the metal sleeves are. The help to keep you from compressing the bushing when tightening them. So I had to back one off and re torque after I tightened it wayyyyy too much.

The ride is much better now, I would feel more comfortable if I had those sleeves however!

Any update on this, pesannason?

Are you still running without a sleeve and do you have any longevity issues?

I have these bushings too and was just going to source the right size tubing to make a sleeve.

@SNOMAX,
I'm still running with no sleeves but would still prefer them. I have this slight sound every once in a while but i think it's from the another bushing and not these. I'm going to check them before it gets too cold here in Jersey to compare how they hold up after the winter.

Let me know if you find a decent sleeve.

About to tackle this issue when replacing the bushings this weekend. Glad I ran across this thread. I was hoping the sleeve could be drilled out to fit the bolt, but from the sounds of it that may not be feasable. I read somewhere that a guy was able to grind down the OEM sleeve and force it into the Whiteline bushing. I'm thinking I'll try to get the OEM sleeve out of the old bushing and try to fit it into the Whiteline. We'll see how it goes.
