I believe he said they worked just fine, no issues installing them. For the price of one balljoint 40 bucks up here I would take the risk of it not fitting. Like you said 500 a pop for each side is outrageous. If it doesn't work your out 40. Try wreckers but than your getting used balljoints.

Parts on the front are interchangeable. They have different parts numbers but are exactly the same. Not all but some. I can provide examples.
hey can you give me some examples need to do this work asap thanks

Just bought my first G35 (04 - G35X) and it has bad uppers / lowers and found this. Going to try regular G ball joints and report back. Thanks for the info!

Tried the AutoZone BJL148 and it does not fit properly in the seat. Too much play regardless of how tight you make it. Is there another aftermarket option before I order a spindle?

Just remove the spindle and take it to a shop to have them pressed out

I'm not sure what you are talking about. I bought the Autozone ball joint and it fits fine in the spindle. The infiniti seat between the ball joint and the control arm is the loose part. Its loose where the seat fits onto the ball joint.

I just ordered another Centric ball joint, since it comes with the seat so I'll see if that fits better.

Its already at a shop and up on the lift.

Bought 2004 G35 RWD front/lower ball joints from Oreilly auto because they don't list the G35x. Was not fun pressing them out! Pressed the new ones in with no problems, the seat that came with them was just fine. If you look at the RWD front spindle compared to the AWD spindle they look the same with the exception of a cap that covers the area where your front axle would go through.

Again, the spindle isn't the issue its the seat between the control arm and the ball joint.

This is the ball joint I ended up using due to it having the seat that fit properly in the control arm.

Amazon Amazon

The ones from Infiniti did not fit properly on the aftermarket ball joints.

I am replacing my ball joints on my 05 G35X right now (along with 85% of the front suspension).

I ordered the Beck/Arnley ball joints off of rockauto, and until I stumbled across this thread I did not realize there was a difference between the AWD/RWD ball joints. Here is the link to the ones I ordered. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=336&jsn=336

From what I gathered in this thread, the consensus is that the ball joints for the RWD/AWD are interchangeable, however the OEM ball joint cone from the AWD ball joint MUST be used on the new ball joint?

Those MAS 61035 balljoints do not fit at all!! The problem being is that the cone seat that comes pressed on with the MAS balljoint won't fit through the hole of the lower control arm. You must use the OEM balljoint cone seat for any balljoint to fit. But the OEM cone seat does not even fit on to the MAS 61035 either. I removed the cone seat that came with the MAS balljoint and put the OEM cone seat on and it wouldn't slide down flush. Ask me how I know. I wasted money buying these garbage balljoints.

I ended up buying the Duralast BJL148 balljoints from Autozone at $50 a pop. I was surprised to find out these are the same exact balljoints used by Infiniti because of the name and numbers printed on the base of the balljoint housing. Even though you can't buy these balljoints directly from Infiniti. Even says Made in Japan on the packaging. Then repackaged by Duralast. The OEM cone seat fit directly on to the Duralast balljoints.

I pressed it in on the car by the way. No need to remove the whole steering knuckle:

I just got the lower ball joint from durha last BJ L1 48 for my 06G35X and the cone does not fit help!

Just reuse your existing ones, it's not a wearable component and the aftermarket ones almost never fit.

They probably sent you the cone washer for the 2003-2004, you need Nissan part number 40173-AC500 for the 2005-2007 if you threw the old one away already.

I tried reusing the old ones but the shaft on the new ball joint is too thin and it has too much play

And also What's wrong with using the other type of cone

The angle being cut wrong is the problem.

If the new ball joint is loose in the cone then you probably got the wrong ball joint.

After reading some comments about that part number on the internet it seems like a LOT of people have noted that it doesn't fit correctly due to a smaller stud size than OEM.

Return it and get a different brand, Duralast is typically bottom-tier stuff anyways. If you don't mind a little wait due to shipping time call Z1 Motorsports, I guarantee they'll have ones that fit and will be as good of quality as OEM, they're usually my go-to shop for G/Z parts.

You can use their website if you don't feel like a phone call, I'm old school and prefer to talk to people when buying my parts.
