brakes lock?
brakes lock?
i have an infiniti g35 the year is 2006 and i have a weird issue when i start my car my front wheels lock for some reason and it happens only if im in first gear and only when i start the car they would lock for a few seconds and they make a hard sound
the way to avoid it is to go to second gear real quick but how do i fix it? i want the car to be tip top and its a weird issue and i dont know exactly whats wrong cuz i just got new wheels and brakes and rotors since i got the car and the issue is still there
thanks!

The ABS does a self-test when the ignition switch is ON and the vehicle reaches 10mph for the first time.
You will hear a sort of "grinding" sound as the ABS motor actuates for 1 full second during the test, if you press the brakes during that time it's exactly the same as if the anti-lock brakes were engaged (they literally are engaged during that self-test).
The best thing is to just NOT hit the brakes during that 1 second, if the ABS motor is running for more than 1 second then the relay is probably sticking.

well it dosent take more then a second but the wheels lock... so thats not good
it dosent do that in second gear but getting to second gear too quick in some situations can mess up my clutch i wanna be able to walk into my car start it and drive it without it locking at all what should i do
?

Are the brakes actually LOCKING or are you just feeling the pedal feedback because you pressed on the pedal during the ABS test? If you apply brake pressure during the ABS test it will hold the motor on until you release (if you lift your foot off the pedal the ABS motor will stop).
If you actually have a tire locking up then you need to have someone else watch (preferrably record video) of each side of the vehicle while you replicate the problem. Since you just got the brakes serviced maybe they didn't bleed them correctly (these vehicles use a non-standard bleed order) and you might have one tire locking up before the rest do which can be very unsafe.
I can't fathom how shifting to second gear is going to mess up your clutch though. You aren't going to defeat the factory ABS system, the best thing to do is just be aware of the self-test happening at 10mph, in my years of owning a G35 I think I've pressed on the brakes during the self test exactly ONE TIME.

and yeah i gotta check one of those things u suggested
Yeah you're probably just feeling the ABS test then, the brakes can't work on their own, your foot has to make pressure in the hydraulic lines for the calipers to engage and if your foot isn't even on the brakes then nothing is engaging them.
If you think the test is running for too long then I'd definitely check out the ABS relay, it's a pretty common failure point and usually it will get stuck and cannot release and the ABS motor will be running nonstop until you pop the hood and tap on the relay box to get it unstuck (or unplug it).
