ROLF!

In fact every time I read that post, even word for word, I can't stop laughing!

I think I've got to copy that one and post it in my office for a grin and stress relief PRN.

GEE PASTA- what is your damp settings and do you use aftermarket swaybars? if so, wat is your setting?

im assuming that your tire pressure is okay.

Ken

Great questions, I run my tire pressure on the high side. I do have adjustable aftermarket sways, Setting's firm (mid) setting front and soft back. I have the CS coilovers set at 50/50 front and a soft 25/75 back. The car just gets sloppy at high speeds and does feel like the tire or tires are under inflated. I was thinking it was the negative camber and the soft setting in the rear. Believe it or not I had the car over 135 on a nice stretch thru St. George Utah
Mountains and it seamed just a little to twitchy to me. It felt like the back just did not want to turn. I feel the front is close. Or, I have everything backwards. It sure has a nice ride around town with firm ride and very little harshness. IM open for suggestions. This car is not anything like my old Z/28s. Pasta

those CS are 16 click adjustables, no? Try this:

Ride height max -1inch from factory height

Front 10 clicks from full hard
Rear 9 clicks from full hard

Swaybars... if 5 way adjustables like the Stillens:
Front soft
Rear med

Tire pressure: 35psi

get your car aligned

im commenting on my own post to make sure i do not confuse anyone.

Preload is the amount of spring load that is there before the actual
load of the car is on the spring to get the rate up to the 670ft/in.
meaning, the spring rate does not exceed the 670ft/in as these are
linear rate springs.

Adjusting preload can make the car respond faster or slower back
to the 670ft/in after full or near full extension of the struts (or
from the extending momentum of the springs).
Also, the main spring will not rattle out of its top mounts if the
correct amount of preload is set.

With this feature, the Flex offers more options to corner balance
a car...but for the regular Joe who doesn't know what corner
balancing is or don't know why the hell I commented to my own
post...lol, just set the Flex evenly so that there is no spring slop
at full extension of the struts.

rates will now vary corner to corner which could adversly affect handling.

The Flex has 2 ways to adjust height.
1. by the spring seats as a normal coilover.
2. by the shell of the piston housing.

but the bottom line is that those springs are linear rate at
670lbs/in...it will not get any softer than that.

that is like twice the nominal rate im running...

OK i think i'm getting it now. So with the Flex the spring preload adjusts how quickly the tire gets back on the ground after hitting a bump on the road or how quickly the cars body gets back to its normal ride height. So it seems like with my G that's a little heavier with the turbos and hardware i would want stiffer springs maybe not 670 but stiffer that the S- techs i have now. My car now pretty much feels like when i go over not so smooth roads at 120mph the body of the car becomes detached from the wheels and when it settles back down it's unpredictable i.e. makes me slow down Let's not forget i have heavy 20" rims with low profile tires so i guess the bumps transfer quicker to the springs. Under high speeds the stiffer springs are ideal and around town they might be painfull. Is any of this correct or am i still off? Now how do the dampers on the coilovers or the D-specs work, dampers in general. Thanx for your help everyone and Ken. We got the same first names.

Thanks!! It took me about an hour to make the changes on my setup.
Ride height is about 3/4" lower than factory.
My alignment is at factory spec.'s. Tire pressure went from 36lbs to 35lbs.
The backend now has changed big time. This car is like a slot car, and turns better that I would ever think. I believe now that my sways and CS coilovers were a good investment.
Thanks for the help, and setup. Pasta

I am currently running the RSR titanium Springs for the 350Z along with the D-spec's for the 350z. I also just had a set of 20" Maya RT5's put on. Tire pressure is at 37psi all around. The car handles VERY well with this setup. I actually have the shocks set at 5 full turns from hard on the rear, and 5.5 turns from hard in the front. I know that is a bit softer than most people on here prefer, but I find it to be very well balanced for my fairy aggressive driving style.

I will eventually be putting on a set of Stillen Sways front and rear. That should complete my suspension mods.

I think that's a sound choice.

What do you recommend for doing mostly street driving, but sometimes goin to the track maybe twice a year?!?!?

I live up north in Canada, and i am debating whether to go with Coilover ( I heard some really horrible story about coilover with SNOW and SALT which we get a lot here, and i drive my car dailty)

or

Spring + Strut ( Eibach + D-spec; Espellir + D-spec, H&R + D-spec or 350 +D-spec)

I dirve a 05 sedan 6mt

Thanks

The oem 350Z spring combo with D-specs. Your other spring choices are progressive and ill suited for tracking with additional compromises on performance due to the sedan's mild shock tuning and the springs need to work acceptably with them. The oem Z springs does not have those compromies and will deliver consistant performance since they do not vary in rate.
