G35 Front Strut Tower brace

I think we can soon add APS TT and Vortech SC to the list if FI kits that this brace works with.

If your car is still using the stock air intake and the plastic engine cover (I would assume that these would be the first things to go) You still will need to get rid of, or cut the stock flimsey plastic engine cover for clearance. (I don't know why someone would want to keep that cheap looking, heat trapping cover on their car in the first place
) This brace fits better with some type of a cold air intake, the restrictive stock air box is kinda in the way of the mounts on the drivers side. Other than that, everything is great and these braces bolt right on and fit on both the coupe and the sedan great.

There are many of us with a stock box & Z-tube setup.
I know the air box uses the same mounting point, but
is the box itself in the way??
Basically will it work or not?
If we have to add a new air box to the $400 it gets more & more costly.

I still want to know how well this works compared to GTSPEC lower strut brace since I am not planning on going FI. I'm sure majority of us who are interested in the strut bar are not going FI.

Thanks Scott... e-mail sent

Now that you have redesigned the bar to clear the stock box, how much clearance is there? More specifically, when it comes time to change the air filter, will there be enough room to open the stock air box without much hassle? Wish I hand known about this redesign earlier before I bought the Popcharger!

I drove my coupe around the block, did about 4 "U" turns, and my, my, my, I didn't know what I was missing. I felt the difference as I was backing out of the garage and rolling over the driveway crown to the street. I have stock suspension with LMGT4 wheels. BIG Difference. This is a great mod.

I did a lot of driving in the Arizona Mountains on the way to Sedona, and the car handled great. I had been thinking of some suspension mods, but no more. The stock suspension is just fine, it just needed something to tie it together, just what the STB does. Going in a straight line feels very much the same, but somehow I feel a little more planted. Lane changing while good before, is more crisp now. As I mentioned above, U Turns are extremely flat, and I swear some of my understeer is gone. Mountain driving was really fun, but I couldn't push it or my wife would have had a fit. There is no downside to this mod, except perhaps the steep price. But, with the precision mounting system, and the engineering necessary because of all the crap around the strut towers, I guess you get what you pay for. To me, this STB is a "Must Have" to all of us who enjoy vigorous driving and a great handling automobile. I've attached a couple of pics. The first one is a before with my cut engine cover. The second shows the bar installed, and the third the driver's side STB Support.

Shouldn't adding the STB increase the amount of understeer? It would be great if understeer did decrease, but I thought by stiffening the front, understeer increases??? Please 'steer' me in the right direction. Thanks.
