How long do brembo brake pads usually last?
Alright im just curious how long my brembo pads are SUPPOSED to last. I have a 6mt with a little over 18k miles, and i have like a half mm left on my pads and im waiting on some pads right now. i like to think that i took it pretty easy on my brakes MOST of the time, and im wondering if the other 2% of the time that i drove the SH*T outa my car, if that un-did the engine braking i did
Using mileage is such a variable as how many applicantions per mile, how hard from what speed.
Would not be unusual to see a 25,000 mile variance [10-35,000 miles] between drivers and locations.

I'm just a little confused on the topic of most people, even the dealer, saying the Brembo's brakes wear quicker. I have 16000 on my coupe, and the dealer said, I am no where near needing new pads, in disbelief, I've looked myself, and I am no where near the end of the pad, nor has the pedal travel, or fluid level diminished or changed a noticable amount. How are you guys driving, are you revmatching while downshifting on off-ramps and coming to stop lights? I seem to never really have to aggresively apply my brakes, or even above moderate. I hope I don't have a friday car!!
I have an 03 coupe with the Brembo's, and I'm at 38K with a decent amount of wear left. I drive the car hard sometimes, but admittedly I'm pretty easy on them in average driving because I downshift. I talked to the service manager at the dealership about a year ago because I had heard the same things you guys have about fast wear. He told me that if you treat them well they should last up to 50K.
Like Q45tech said, the wear is greatly dependent on where and how you drive. If you live in the city and drive the car in bumper-to-bumper a lot, you're probably going to find wear to be a problem. I live in the burbs and drive about 35 miles to work on the open interstate everyday, so I probably use less than average.
Just curious, how much do the brakes cost to replace (parts + labor)?

yeah i really use my brakes a lot compared to people like my father who drive 60 miles a day 5 days a week... all on freeways. His brakes and tires always last till he sells the car (70k miles) on every car he gets lol. His last GMC denali and this q56 have no wear on eithe rpart so i know what your saying.
Hook up a counter/timer to brake light circuit to count the number and duration of your braking per mile.
A small noise maker [sonalert/buzzer/taser] on same circuit will train you to use brakes less frequently.

As others have mentioned, 45K is a lot. I can't imagine the average being anywhere that high.
