Was I ripped??

Hey guys I've been lurking around for almost a yr now. I dont post much bc I wanna have one really to post with the rest of you guys. Anyways I'm from ATL area and went to one dealership and was quoted $40,450 out the door.Heres the run down:
--06 G35 coupe 6mt: IP
--Prem Package
--Navi
--Aero
--15-20G's down.
Also here in ATL tax is like 7% if I'm right. Def said hell no to that since most of you guys are telling me yall got yalls around $500 or so over invoice. I just wanted to make sure that was high and I should shop some where else. On monday or tues I'm going to another dealership that said they would def beat that and they are now Stillen auth dealership to do mods and stuff like. I just sold my hatchback so I def need a car now. Any help or ideas will help. Thanks everyone!!

Email all the dealerships around you. Ask for thier best price and get them in to a bidding war. Also check thier websites for specials. Don't be desparate to buy the car. That's always a bad situation.
Check out http://www.carbuyingtips.com/carintro.html

and edmunds.com for more information
All the best on the new car.

Demand invoice.
Price the car out on Edmunds.com, print the paper out, and show it to them.
I got a 2006 Base, and I only paid 30,000 and that was three months ago. Now that the new G is comming out, these should be selling like pancakes.

I did the whole Edmunds thing and they are like marking it up 1500-1900 up on invoice for some crazyness. So far I got like $40,450 and $40,192. Either everyone is doing something I'm not doing right or something....whea are all the ppl to help me out that said "O don't pay more than a couple of hundred over invoice". If anyone around the Atlanta area wanna help me out..I would greatly appc. Any help from anyone would help. I really just wanna know if anyone with the same car, color and everything else I want, what was there deal???

New update. One dealership called back and I decide to X the Aero, $500 for a spolier really just isnt worth it and knowing me I would prob change it later on. Well with that said, total price now.....$39,500 out the door....seems good to me, yes...no??

I bought mine with the nav... one of the FIRST G35's in miami... and paid less than you were. This was back when they ADDED a fee saying the car was in too high a demand. They were always sold before even being unloaded from the truck.

I would work out a better price.

How did you get those price? was it from face to face negotiating or from E-mail/phone calls? and what exactly are the "out of door" fees, Dont city of Atlanta adds extra one percent sales tax when you makes a purchase with-in its city limit? or that does not include motor vehicles... When post this kind of questions? really need to leave the "out of door" price out, as it will only make ppl more confused to give you better responds, simply because we all have different sale's tax rate and even DMV's fee could be wildly different as well.

How many dealerships do you have in your area? if they all quote you a similar pricing? then I would guess those prices is the going rate in your market area, I am not saying dont try for lowest possible price, but just because ppl here in NorCal consistently getting 500 over invoice price(below invoice now) that doesnt mean ppl in Billings Montana should and will get the same price, what I am trying to say is that one cant apply their own purchase experience/price to the masses, especially if one is two thousand miles away and do not know your local market condition is like.

I appc the help but if u read back up to the top, U will see the sales tax rate I posted of the ATL area. Most has been phone calls, I'm a claims adjuster here so I'm in and out of the office all day writing estimates and all. When I meant out the door, I meant the price they are quoting me is the price I would get if I walked in right now and signed the deal.

I know everyone gets different deals and some of the market is different. I was just wondering what kinds of market everyone else was getting and was hoping someone from the ATL area would read this. I just know they are charging me around $1200-1500 over invoice. But thats crazy yall are getting it almost at invoice or under over there. Well thanks for all the info everyone that has help, might switch cars now depending on what I really get quoted later, might switch over to the new IS's or a used M3....

Well, the problem is that I did read the first post...
Also here in ATL tax is like 7% if I'm right.
...how sure are you its 7 percent? and was simply point out there might be some other fees that you didnt or might not factor into the "out of door" price such as that extra 1% sales tax for city of Altanta that might or might not apply to you?

I found that if you want the best possible price? the best way is walking into dealership and talk to them and show them you are an serious buyer, perhapes they will lower their price, quotes over the phone/e-mail dont always net you the best/lowest deal, spend couple of hours just might save you thousand or so dollars....either way? good luck!
