If you had to choose between these two cars (and only these two) which would you choose and why. I am asking because I can get a great deal on the infiniti or go with a "normal" priced Z.

2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe Black/Black 5AT 20,xxx
-Aero package, Brembos

2003 Nissan 350Z Coupe x/x 6sp. 30-40,xxx
-base model

I am "spirited" driver and am worried that I will be disappointed that I got an auto instead of a standard (I have a sandard now). Anyways I was just curious on anyones opinion and why.

Well we haven't seen pricing on either one but I like the G35 out of the 2... I have an auto and if there is any doubt in your mind that you can be a "spirited" driver with an automatic G35 then you need to take a ride with me in my G. Manual is better for fun but automatic is better for day to day convenience. I have no regrets.

I've got an auto after years of driving stick and I love it. It's great for my everyday commute to work, but when I want to drive "spirited" I just move into manual mode and she's still a lot of fun.

If an automatic is good enough for Paul Tracy's "daily driver" which most of his cars have (911 Turbo,SL65) then it's good enough for me.

I would go with the g auto.I personally live in the city and stick is tiresome plus i'm like 6"2 with giraffe legs.If the prices are the same you get better looking car and nicer interior. If you prefer no frills and little faster car get the z.

its hard to find honest opinions cause ur on a g35 forum, but i just got an 04 ip auto coupe, and im loving the hell out of it, and i use the hell out of that backseat for putting stuff there, so i would find it better, especially if ur looking for luxury sport, g is best for that imo, well gl in ur choice and my opinion is definitley..... g

I assume the G has an aftermarket Brembo kit on it?... since you could only get the factory Brembos on the 6MT-equipped G35's in the '03 and '04 years.

How can the G35 be an Auto, but have the Brembos? Did the owner switch them out?

Personally, if you are a stick man...you have to get the 6-speed. It's so much fun to drive. A friend of mine will actually be selling a 2003 Brilliant Silver G35 coupe 6m/t with about 30,000 miles for low 20s. His name on here is audiblemayhem. PM him about it if you are interested.

G has many pluses, the Z has better performance. looks are a personal thing. drive both see what feels better. personally, i really didn't like auto g's. but i have like autos in the past, if the hp/torque/weight is balanced properly (i.e. c5 vette). with the g i feel like i need the stick so i can keep it in high revs and the auto shifts really lazyly. as far as brembos, i don't have em, and i think it stops fine. if anything the z is lighter so it will stop better.

biggest + for the G is the interior (although 03 was nothing special) and the 4 seats.

really tough call here

You are probably right about the bias towards the G. And yes, I went over to check out the G and they are not the brembos, I think he said they feel like the brembos (? whatever). Anyways I could get the G for $18,100 with 20,xxx on it - it is a family member selling it. $18,xxx wil get me an '03 Z with probably 40,xxx+ on the ticker and it will be most likely the base model.I do agree that the shifts in the 5AT are a bit lazy. I will most likely have to suck it up and go with the G, it will be a nice break from the 5sp. Thanks everybody for your input.

PS: if anybody wants to add anything I would appreciate it.

i had the same dilemma....

went with the G only because it has 4 seats, which i have used quite a bit in the last one year.... and also the infiniti brand has a more luxury connotation over the nissan brand. no other reason.
