Do the math on the interest you will pay financing that amount. ouch.
You already have a cool car. soup it up. fix the squeak.

+1 Stay with what you got or take the Audi. Don't get into something that will have a negative financial impact on your budget.Originally Posted by bLo

that my 04 G35Coupe is a POS! it makes squeaking noises everytime i go over bumps and i found out that my car has been in an accident..anyways..yea i want to trade my car in! I still owe $21,--- to the bank. The dealer is giving me only $19,000 so im losing 2,000..oh well..i love the G35 so i want ANOTHER ONE BUT BRAND NEW!
the dealer quoted me this for leasing/financing..Tell Me What You Think
Brand New o6 Infiniti G35 Coupe
*Lease*
15,000 miles/a year for 48 months
$800 down
$599 a month
*Finance*
$32,000 + $2,000 trade in + tax= around $36,---ish
72 months
$3000 down
Financing $33,000
$630 a month

Better off with the Financing rite?
But my parents arent gonna go for it probably
b/c my payment rite now is $443.60..
thats like almost $200 more dollars a month more
but oh well IM goin to STAND STRONG and be
like WELL THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR!!!! I WANT IT=]
tell me what you guys think!..if i cant afford this..SIGH
i have to go with this
an 06 AUDI A4 2.OT QUATTRO used with 24,000 miles
for $23,995
As others have pointed out, this move would be a bad one for so many reasons. If you trade a car every time there's a squeak you can't easily fix, you'll quickly burn through whatever money you're able to earn, and then some.Originally Posted by pghG35

Especially since the dealer appears to have quickly sized you up as someone who would pay as much as the parents/bank will permit. Known in the business as a "get me done."
Get a friend to drive your car while you try to locate the squeak, or vice-versa. One way or another it's fixable.
"New" is over quickly.

Umm...and? The point is his car was in an accident and is making strange noises now and he wants another G but doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg. The reality is he probably can't afford the option for the '06 he's looking at because those payments are ridiculous. You can still get an '04 (regardless if that's what he has now) with low miles and hasn't been crashed, not have a creeking car anymore and be happy. He's not upset he has an '04, he's upset that he found out his car had been in an accident and now make unfixable noises.

If you decide to buy the 2006 G35 you better plan to keep it for a long time. Yo are paying for a new car that is already 2 years old, the second you drive off the lot you will lose more than 10k becasuse the car is 2 years old, If you plan to keep the car for 5+ years then it wont matter, but if you plan to sell it with-in 2 years then just keep the one you have now. Why dont you try and save more money up before getting another car, just to have it. You could probably fix the rattles in the car, you just need to pin-point where they are, and what is causing them. Also how ba of an accident was the care that you have now in? Cars get panels repainted all the time, the car you are looking at now has probably been re-painted at some time, dealers scratch the car then send it for paint. You need to really think long and hard about this, because your setting youself up for a financial problem.

Whatever you do, do not finance it for that long. I learned that a hard way. I got quoted a ****ty apr, but I stuck with it anyway.
I was all hyped up and didn't want to look more for better financing, so now I am stuck paying 801 a month. Amount financed was 38,000 for 60 months and at 9.7% APR.
I thought I could refinance later, tried after a year and could not, my credit union said I wasn't at my job for long enough (2 years)

Um, you would be paying over 12k in interest and close to 49K on a 2006...
think about it.

Paying that price also guarantees you lose big time regarding depreciation. If you have to buy it I'd tell "stealer" you'll do HIM a favor and drive it off for $30K max. Trust me a dealer stuck with a 2 year old "new" car can do better than $32K......JMHO
yea believe or not they do have an 06 G35 with 160 miles...lol ..ill try to work down the price to $30k b/c that 06 has been there for more then 4-6 months lol..i think they'll give me a deal just to get rid of it..but ill have to see..i want to leease a g37 but its to much =-[Originally Posted by Bigguy2000

I haven't checked the values, but even $30000 seems too high for a car that is already two years old.
You don't seem like the sort of person who will hold onto a car for a long time unless you simply cannot buy a new one. So I wouldn't do anything predicated on your having the car for a long time. You'll be wanting a 2008 in a year or two.

Are we talking two cars, one new and one used with 160 miles? Or is this the same car? Titled or not?
I'd say $25,000, $26,000 for a used 2006 with very low miles. Comp here:
2006 G35 listing
Of course, if the dealer is giving you a good price on the car they're selling, they're not going to pay a dime over wholesale for your trade. Since they'll almost certainly be able to tell it's been wrecked, you'll get slammed, get offered $20,000 at best.
The way I like to price used cars here:
Used car pricing method
I don't use the books, they're too often way off.
On a new one, there's probably a limited amount they're willing to do. Many dealers would rather shoot their mother than take a loss on a car. That's how they end up with a 2006 on their hands with 2008s on the lot in the first place. So whatever their cost is after all incentives, that's what they'll be willing to sell it for, most likely.
There's one variable, though: the value of your trade. If they badly want to sell that 2006, they might convince themselves that your car is worth more than it actually is. And then the cycle will begin again, with a used 2004 they'll be unable to unload because they paid too much for it...
If you're dead set on doing this, you can't go in there with a "get me done" attitude. They'll read that right away, and you'll find it hard to get a decent deal.

Just re-read the OP, saw they offered you $19,000. Which probably isn't too far off what they should be offering you, if they were giving you a killer deal on the new car. But they're not.
$14,000 plus mucho interest to get a car that's two years newer? That's way steep. Especially considering that at least half of that money will go poof the moment you drive off the lot.
