NEED YOUR ADVICE!!! 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT

Hi Everyone,

I recently found a pre-owned 2003 White G35 Coupe 6speed MT. Car has 93000 miles (owner said its long commute, Pleasanton to Modesto California). Checked on Carfax, clean title. Exterior and interior looks clean.

I'm asking for any advice on what I should look for before purchasing this vehicle. I know the mileage is a bit high, should I be concerned about any major repairs or mechanical problems that might arise? (Ex: clutch? water pump? suspension problems? etc) Please feel free to leave any suggestions or comment base on your experience.

Thank you,
JukesBao

There are many G35C with low mileage out there. Take some more time looking. At nearly 100K miles this car is due for allot of work. You are looking to need or change the following items: ATF OR manual fluid flush, PS flush, differential oil change, replace gas filter, air filter, cabin filter, belts, tire rotation & balance, may need alignment, may need new plugs, may need new battery and not far off from needing a new clutch or even struts. Not only that, but at 5 years 100K mi. the starter and alternator could eventually go to. Even if the owner provided me with all the service records, I would lean away from purchasing a car with nearly 1/2 its life gone at 5 yrs 100K mi.

I agree to some extent with 05GCOUPE6MT, That is a high mileage car. However, How old is the owner? Does he have his service records/receipts.

Depending on how the car was treated, this may not necessarily be a bad car.

I used to commute over 500 miles every week. The commute was on a major highway, and always at 60-70 mph. That is not wear and tear on a vehicle compared to stop and go city traffic on potholed streets etc.

So, basically what I trying to say is a beat on car w/40,000miles is probably more prone to repairs that a 100,000 mile car that was driven practically. The key to this car is if it was properly maintained, with proof by the owner.

Either way, Good luck with your decision

Like GR8TG35 said...find out the background of the car. A 2003 100,000 mile coupe should probably run you something like $13000.

I would not under any circumstance buy a car with 100k already on the clock, regardless of how it was maintained.

Get it if it checks out fine and the price is right.... But yep, at that high a mileage, there are a lot of maintenance items you'll want to do to make sure it runs another 100K miles.

I would save your pennies and wait for a lower mileage coupe to come up.

Get it and save up for a built block and suspension/brakes. But only if the price is right. Give us the price he was looking for.

I wouldn't get the car but if you really want it. You should check out the clutch and see if there's any slipping. Get vehicle service records. From the records you will be able to determine exactly what will need to be done to the car. Common problems with the G are window motors going out and prob. with the cd changer.

Hi everyone. Thank you for your advice. I'm a third year college student so my budget is limited. I'm looking to spend under $20k. 6 speed MT is a must! Do you have any recommendations of where I should look for a G. Dealer? Private party? I've been "craigslisting" for the past two months.

To answer your questions:
- The owner is asking for $16800.
- The owner is willing to take the car into an infiniti dealer for check up.
- He had service records up to 75000 miles until he started doing his own maintenance.

PS: If anyone knows where I can get a WHITE G35 COUPE 6MT around the Bay Area, CA. Please let me know.

Thank you,
JukesBao

You can definitely do better. If you're in no rush, don't settle for a car that you know (otherwise I don't think you would've asked) isn't the right one.

Just keep looking and especially since you're in CA you shouldn't have issues finding one.

GL with the search!
