Good Price on an 08 G35S?

Just talked to West Houston Infiniti today, they offered $35,585 for a Platinum Graphite G35S 5AT with Premium Package, Tint, and Wheel locks. This is already a bit under MSRP, anybody think there's any way to get closer to their invoice price or is this a pretty good deal?

Also, it will be 1.9% APR financing.

If it's any help, you can get a G35 right around invoice before taxes/fees. I did! There's a thread over at edmunds.com (well, if you goto the forums from edmunds which leads you to another edmunds owned site..) where people were posting prices they received.

I got my G35S 6MT w/ Premium, cargo, mud flaps and spoiler for 33,050 before fees and whatnot. Now keep in mind once you throw on taxes and some other dealer fees that price will jump, but I see room for another $2500-3000 in price drop.

I emailed a bunch of dealers using Edmunds and pretty much said "I'm willing to pay $32,000" knowing they would obviously come up some. My very first quote was $32,727 but that was with a spoiler. While I like the spoiler, I don't need it and I expressed that to the dealer. He came down the price of the spoiler, and then I got a tad more off too.

Anyway, if you can, wait another 2 weeks... End of the month is where you win. I worked as a consultant pretty high up in the chain for a few luxury companies, and really learned the importance of pushing cars off the lot. Most car companies receive their inventory based on previous year sales + the sales of the same month of the previous year. So in essence, next years April allocation will be heavily based on this Aprils sales. Towards the end of the month, they're willing to let things go practically at cost if it means they can make numbers which will help next years potential sales. In the end, all sales are based on potential... the more cars you have, the more you can sell!

So, sorry if this is more info than you wanted, but hopefully it's a little reason as to why you should be able to get more money off. Let us know how it goes!

No that's great info!

I had originally gone through Edmunds and it sent my email to a few dealerships in Houston and they all replied with price quotes. I asked some dealers to beat the 3% over invoice West Houston offered but they said they couldn't, just to call them if I have any problems - I was shocked that they didn't even want to try to earn my business.

But I'm completely in the school of thought to buy at the end of the month. I will probably ready to make a purchase by the 28th. But at the dealership the salesman said the price won't budge until the next sales month, it was basically a set 3% over invoice on all G35s with 1.9APR. We'll see if he's still saying that while he tries to meet quota at the end of the month!

Thanks for the help

It's amazing how much things change when it comes to month-end and they haven't met quota. As of right now, they can dodge a low price with you while hoping they can sell to others at a higher price, and eliminate their need to make quota.

But, if last month is any indicator (granted I live in South Florida... not sure how the market is in Houston), they'll be hurting at the end of the month and hoping to meet quota. Also, last month was year-end as well if I'm not mistaken.

Good luck!

Well it didn't turn out quite as we had hoped. I put down a $500 deposit to day to hold the car. I believe it's the only car in the US that meets my specifications, and he has two dealers asking for it. They said they've been having a great year, so they aren't having trouble meeting quotas. I decided to go with the 35.585 price because they didn't want to budge, and there is a $400 increase on all the new cars coming in, so that would be tacked on before negotiations.

Thanks for all your help tho!

Perhaps the Houston market is much better than S.Fla (which I would easily believe... the economy, along with the significant number of foreclosures, makes for a nasty recipe here...). Either way, all that matters is that you're happy with the car, at least in my opinion. Let me ask you this, just to make sure... that cost was before TTL (Tax, Title, License) correct?

Enjoy the car, and hopefully it doesn't get dinged/scratched within the first month like mine did!

Yeah, according to the news (however reliable they are, ha!) Houston isn't going to be hit as hard as other markets around the country. Our housing market is actually on the rise!!

Yeah that was before TTL, with tints and wheel locks.

The car is sitting at the dealership covered in all the plastic wrap waiting for me to come in once i get my trade-in back!!
