I've decided my next car will be a G
I've decided my next car will be a G
I need some help.
I'm a 19 year old College student in SoCal tired of driving my 07 Sentra that was given to me for my bday. Yes, I'm very fortunate to not have to pay for anything except for gas and the oil changes, and occasional tire change. But I'm getting to the point where I'm willing to do anything to get out of it. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic car..just not for me. It's great on gas, 30 mpg avg. but it's just NOT ME. I do have a part time job but I intend on getting another that will allow me to work a little more than 10 hours a week.
Anyways, with all that said. I WANT a G. and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get one. I've thought about it too much to let the idea slip..so I need your guys' advice on how I can get my hands on one. Whether it's what kind of job I should look for to be able to handle the payments on one..to what kind of down payment I should put on it so the monthly payments will be around $250-350 a month. and which job will allow me to afford that along with gas and what not.
and if you happened to be in just about the same type of situation; school, age, job..and what not..I'd love to read about it
oh, and I'm looking for something along the lines of an 05-06 six speed MT
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time guys.

Trust me, I have been in your shoes, wait until you are done with school. You have a newer car and no car payment. There is no reason to give that up. Don't force yourself to have to work a certain number of hours to make a car payment. You will regret it.
Not having an extra bill that you specifically have to find another job to afford is allowing you to sleep at night; I would keep it that way. The stress of working another job, and if you have any emergency expense arise is not a good feeling especially if you are already trying to focus on school. Also keep in mind that insurance for a G at your age is going to be expensive. Being laced with debt and regret is not a good feeling. Not trying to discourage you just sharing a little wisdom.....
dude, your not only gonna have to make payments on the car.. your also gonna have to take up the expenses of the car, oil change price is not your average oil change price.. lol, new tires would thin your wallet real fast, and the gas your gonna have to start pumping premium with a 20 gallon tank and get like 16mpg.. or w/e.., it'll be a big switch from your sentra..

You're in college. Focus on getting to class, partying and getting a,ss. You don't wanna have to always be worrying about having to work enough to make a car payment every month.
I was in your shoes a couple years ago, wanted a G real bad in college but I already had a hand me down Camry that was paid off, reliable, and practically maintenance free (I don't think I had to repair anything or change the tires once in the entire four years I owned it, neither of which I can say for my G). It took a lot of stress off my mind not to have to work to make the car payment or be broke and not be able to go out cuz I had to pay something car maintenance related.
I wanted that car bad but in hindsight it would've been such a burden to get it in college. For being a general mass produced car, these G's are not cheap to maintain if you want to do it right. I got one when I graduated and had some money saved up, and with some help from my parents I now I have a G35 and no car payments. It is a great feeling.
Spend your time and money enjoying college, it will only happen once in your life and there's nothing like it. I wish I would've enjoyed college more, but what can you do. You don't want to spend your time and effort working to pay off a car, please trust me on this.

What this person said.
Wait until you are done with school. I know it is a painful thought, but it is worth it.
The best thing to do now is to invest in yourself, get killer grades, and land a good job. At that point, you should be able to afford a nice car like a G35 without a problem. Believe me, it will be so much sweeter once you finish your education and can treat yourself.
I got my new G35 at age 33 after being in school until 28, and working 5 years to build up a 401(k) and be in a secure position. The wait was worth it.

ok... i'll say it... get one.
f*ck it. i know i enjoyed my drives to/from work a little bit more in my g. it wasn't so bad going to work, and it was much more enjoyable driving home every night. and taking the wife out in the g. sometimes it's the little things that make you happy that make life worth living...

if it's something you really want, get a second job and save up the cash so you can pay it off in full.. once you accumulate all that money, you'll probably realize you have more important things to spend it on. I'm 17 and can't really tell you I've "been there" but I do work 2 jobs and with school, college apps, and work, I feel stressed and am not as happy as I have been in the past. Once this year is over, I'm not planning on working until midway through college so I can relax and enjoy myself. From my short experience, I would stick with what you have going and not worry about looking good in your car and worry about getting good grades, fvckin around with friends, having a good time and then getting a degree so you can get a good job that you won't need to worry about car payments, etc
seriously.. as much as i love my g, i some what miss having my old beat up car.. before me and my friends could just mess around at stop lights and like give each other a little bumper car action and then getting out of the car and creating a scene like we're about to start a fight or something.. those were fun times.. but now with the g everythings serious now, before i didnt care what people did to my car and stuff but now if anyone touched my car i'd go beserk on them, ive had my g for a year now, i bought it when i was 19.. it feels good to step in and out of the g, but idk, just go fck around and have some fun!!
