Buying a Coupe 6MT, what to expect?
I am buying a 2005 M6 Coupe and would like to know peoples experiences with theirs in that year. I would like to hear the good and most importantly the bad. Is there anything in particular I should look out for, and be aware before I purchase? Such as engine knock and any major mechanical issues.
My purchase will be a used 2005 M6 Coupe with about 70 - 85K KM on the odometer.
Thank you.

OOhh lol . Sorry you didn't make clear enough. I mean seriously how the hell was I supposed to know.
Car = M6 made by BMW
6MT is universal = 6 Manual Transmission
Be clear buddy.

Shouldn't buy anything you can't spell correctly. Sorry, bro. I couldn't resist. Good luck.

Ok I agree, my bad. But honestly is there anything major that I should know about the car? I am aware of the oil consumption issue that these cars go through. But does anybody know the percentage of them affected? And any other major issues? Much appreciated.
I thought you meant an M6 BMW too.
Only "issue" I can inform you about is the feel of the transmission. Depending on what manuals you've driven in the past, it may feel very rough to you.

I drive manuals only but never had a car with over 175 HP, nor did I ever drive a RWD. I am hoping the shifting will be smoother than the Cavalier I currently drive at the least. I did read somewhere that the shifting is not to par with other makers in the same class. I will definitely keep an eye open when I do my test drive next weekend. Thanks lekker. Anyone else has any bad experiences?
I came from a Z24 5 speed cavalier followed by a Mitsu Eclipse GTS 5 speed. I absolutely love the short throw look and feel of the G35 6 speed. Compared to the Z24 it's a dramaticly better experience. The cavalier provided a very vague feel when clutching, whereas the G35 is a more aggresive sports car bite when it comes to clutch engagement. You won't have any trouble at all adapting, and you'll never look back.
Will you be a buttery smooth shifter in the G? Absolutely not. But you're also not buying a manual so you can drive Miss Daisey - you're doing it to have fun and you undoubtedly will.

Make sure you ask the seller of any upcoming wear items such as brakes, clutch, tires. Although these are normal wear and tear items, you don't want to have to change them immediately after purchasing the car.
The clutch is definitely one to ask about for the mileage you're looking to buy. Take the car to a dealership, pay ~$70 for an inspection and they'll tell you everything about what upcoming services the car will need.
Ask for the service records and look over them in detail. You can usually find out some information about the car when they put "recommended services" on the service records.
Hope that helps.
