Need advice pls. Thinking of purchasing a G35
Hey Guy aNd Gals,
I need your honest opinion. I found this 2005 g35 a/t with 24k at a car lot and the price is $19,991. Is this to good to be true? Im not familiar with the G35. Whats should I check on this car? It has a car fax which did show any accident what so ever. Please be advice I really love this car,and what kind of warranty is still available at this mileage? thanks guys

All I can tell you is that Carfax will not tell your everything, take it to a mechanic. Check nada.com or kbb.com for the value of the car. I got a 05 AT with 32k for 18.6 from a dealer, it is a bit below the cars actual value but you might be able to score a better deal. They had the car listed for 21k.
Wow thanks thescreensaver for the quick reply. This is great info. So they will let me take it to my mechanic before I purchase it? I have never done that before. I have looked at the other dealers and they have 05 with like 35k and up,this is the lowes mileage I saw thats why it was kind of fishy, but it says that it was a least before.
Nope, only potential oil consumption issues on the Rev-up engines, but the one you're looking at isn't a Rev-up (only 6MT's).
You might still have some factory bumper-to-bumper remaining. Look at the Carfax and find it's in-service date, the date that the car was first sold/titled to a new owner. If it's less than 48 months ago, you're still under the b-2-b. For extended warranty, you can get up to 48 months, 48K miles from Infiniti, but it's not cheap.
As far as price on that one, you don't say if it's a Sedan or Coupe, or what options it has. For a Sedan with the Premium Package, the price is a kinda high. For a Sedan with Premium, Sport, and Nav, it's a fair. For a Coupe, it's a very good price (there's about a $2500 premium on a Coupe vs. a Sedan). But I'm guessing it's a Sedan, so I'd try to knock at least $1500 off the price.

Hey Victor,
After coveting the G35 since the first issue year, I finally bought mine a month ago. It's a 2005 with 22k on it. Came off a lease. 12 weeks and a lot of test driving to find it. Slate blue with Gray or Stone interior. Just do your homework. Consumer reports, Edmunds.com and take your time. The G35 is a "perfect" car and your perfect car is out there.
Also, do an Autocheck report on the car as well as taking it to the mechanic. Something I learned on my test drives is to "accidentally get lost." Don't let the sales guy direct you everywhere. They know what might be wrong with the car and may steer you to slow speed roads or highways to avoid you finding a problem. One I drove in Jax had a steering linkage problem. Found it when I "got lost" in a residential neighborhood.
Also, ask the dealer you are purchasing from to provide you with a list of any and all checks and work they did to the car. My dealer wasn't afraid to provide me with that info. Beware if they are. Take a flashlight with you and don't be afraid to get under the car and in the engine before you test drive it.
All in all buckeyeinmi and thescreensavers have great advice. Just offering some things I ran into. Good luck in your seach.
