dealer will not buy your car unless they think they can get atleast 4k out of it. Trust me i know this. I used to work for a local car dealer and that how the owner run his business. You know what is worst then that? The dealer bought collision car at the auction and fixed and sold it for more than 6k profit.

KBB is not the best to use to get the value of your car, never has! NADA is what dealers have always used. Now its the Black Book they are using. And they like to go buy acution prices which suck. I just traded my 04 G w 136k for an 07 QX56. They only gave me $7000 trade in value but little did they know three of my rays were bent. I had a piece of metal go thru the tire and the rim when I was pulling into the dealership. Had to have the hole welded. The radiator had a small hairline crack and I was having issues with my tranny slipping when cold. The low trade in counter balanced the great deal I got which was 7k below value not to mention the issues my G was suffering. Louisiana road are the worst.

And dont paint your car even if it is the same color. The told me because I did that it was an auction vehicle from the start even though it was a great paint job

The other thing to keep in mind is that if your car is a manual transmission, it is not as easy for the dealership to sell (smaller pool of potential buyers). They may try to give you less because of factors like this.

My G is an 05 with 46k and i just went to KKB because i was surfing and my trade in is 18,000 and private is 20,000. I only got the car a year ago ago from a small dealer for 20,500 so i would keep looking around and seeing if you find a better price.

I can buy a brand new G37S (2011) for $38k right now from my local Infiniti dealer. Selling brand new cars for cheaper will kill the used car market as well. It really doesn't affect me, because I will probably hold on to my car for a while as long as Infiniti steps up and fixes the issues I'm having with it.

If you had a ****ty car, I'd say fear the day. You drive a nice car, I'd say don't even worry about trade in values. You can always find someone to buy it private party for a decent price.

Carmax offered me 22k for my 08 G37 Sport fully loaded with navi. They actually have acouple currently for sale for 26k just like mine.

very typical the offer the loan value, which only the dealer has access too... I bought my G, but before I did I found out what the loan value was for my car from a dealer friend

I was looking at an 08 4 door Tundra at a local Kia dealership and the dealer said nobody will buy a used car (my G) for $20,000 when they could buy a brand new Kia Forte Coupe. These Motherf**kers are out of their minds. Slimey ba$tards!
Honestly I would not pay 20k or even 18k for an 06 coupe. With no down payment financed your looking at a $325 payment for 5 years every month and NO warranty. One can lease a G37 brand new for $379.00. The dealer is right. I wish you luck, but I'm telling everyone I know to buy new or lease. Used car prices are out of control.

I might look into leasing my next car.. keep it for 3 years then get something fresh and new.. I can always swap the suspension and wheels if I want to mod it, then switch back.. I'm kinda over modding now anyway.. its just a waste of money..
