[QUOTE=plonka;5790600]It used to be that dealers would give you roughly you are correct... I live near an auction house where dealers can pick up cars for dirt cheap and sometimes hve to only repaint a fender etc. in their own shop....also it should be evident to most money is tight the banks are not lending...try and get an $8000 loan. impossible in my area. and just to make it more clear if you are trying to sell you car private the would be purchaser will bail when they find they can not get a loan.. THE DEALER knows this and are opportunist.

i am sorry but the the g value is coming down! i have seen 06 with only 40k around my area go for 17k private sale and that was like 6 months ago. I do agree that dealers can screw us bad but they are in it to make money! they will not spend 16k to get your car and turn around to sell it for 18k. they cost for their rent, electricity, employees, and all those stuff.
My step dad used to sell used car for a living and he will not buy a car unless he can make atleast 2k out of it. and it must be under 10k. he said if you are going to spend over 10k then the profit must be atleast 3.5k. he said we have to pay rental and employees. sometimes the car will just sit there for months and you cant sell it.
to sum up you should sell it to a private party. although he is my step dad but i do think he is a scammer man!!! he scam people for their money and even old people too. i hate him for that. i mean if he gonna scam people for their money at least give me some!!!! or give me a free Z.

I was randomly car shopping in July, trying out a 2011 Jeep Cherokee (which I could not afford if my life depended on it) and was curious as to how much the dealership would give me. Now, my coupe is in tip-top shape, no leaks ever, oil always changed every 5,000 K. They offered me $1,500
FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. I paid $10,000. They told me it was because of the 278,000 km's on the clock. Then they proceeded to tell me they'd put it on the lot for $5,000. I have never seen a coupe for less than $9K.
