Looking at buying a G35 Coupe
Looking at buying a G35 Coupe
Hey everyone,
I'm new here and this is my first post. I don't have a G35 (yet), but I'm looking to buy one for sure. I have my eyes on two that have caught my attentionboth are 2004 and are being sold for around the same price. One is red with ~49k miles, being sold for $16,000. The other is dark blue with ~60k miles at $15,400. Both have comparable options (Bose, aero package, 18" 7-spoke wheels, no nav) and I'm debating on which one to get.
I am planning on checking both out and taking them for a test drive this weekend. Are there any mechanical or specific things based on your experience or knowledge of the 2004 model year that I should watch out for, or any problems I should be aware of/ask about?
Thanks for all your feedback. I hope to own a G35 real soon!

Thanks, but that's irrelevant to the reason I posted the thread. I appreciate your response though.
Well, to update on my original post—I ended up taking a look at only the dark blue one. Decided not to purchase it as I took it to an Infiniti dealer to get it inspected and they found problems with it and recommended against buying it.
Haven't taken a look at the red one yet but I don't know if I will... used car dealers are very sketchy and tricky.
As of now, the hunt continues! I hope I can find one soon.
Also, do you guys have any tips or knowledge about odometer tampering and how to spot signs of it? A 2004 car with 49k miles seems a little suspicious to me.

I strongly recommend pulling a carfax report on any used car you intend to purchase, good dealerships provide them for free. This will show any odometer issues as reported by any dealership servicing the car. Also, grab the car's VIN# and call the Infiniti Dealership closest to where the car was registered. Chances are you will be able to get a service history from them over the phone. Tell them you just bought the car and want to check if any service was recommended recently that may not have been performed. This will help you get an idea of what you're dealing with.

EDIT: The car I asked about previously in this post was sold.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Sorry for all the posts but I haven't really been getting many answers to my questions, and I have quite a few questions lol. So here's another one if you don't mind putting in some input:
I've got my eye on a 2006 Coupe with around 80k miles. It's being sold by a Lexus dealer for $17k. Options seem aplenty; I'm pretty sure it has the premium package and probably more. The mileage is a little high for my preference (I'm planning on driving this car daily for the next 6+ years), but I've heard good things about the engine and its reliability. What do you think about getting a car of this mileage and do you think it's a fair price?

So this is my first time back on in a while, trying to catch up on some unanswered posts haha. Per your first quesion about odometer tampering that is basically unheard of nowadays since cars have gone digital (not saying its impossible but very very hard to do). There are a lot of 9 and even 10 year old cars out there with less than 50k miles.
As for the '06, when the G's switched over to the new engines in '05 they have been said to have a lot of leaks/mixing. Its always good to check the CarFAX and any papers on the car that the owner may have to check for constant checkups.
Me personally...I would NEVER buy from a dealer just because they're salesman they know how to make any car sound like an amazing car. "Oh ya all the work has been done, its got this upgrade and this upgrade" plus you end up paying thousands of dollars in dealer fees. My recommendation is do some more research on them and find a private seller.
Happy hunting!
