Should I avoid 05 6mt coupe?
Weird. 850 miles after that top up, I don't have any oil reading movement. The only thing that's changed is the warmer weather. Maybe too many pulls on cold oil. Think I'll stick with 10w 30. 3/4 quart in 3k wudnt be too bad. It is common for ANY VQ to sip oil, but not normal.
The way i see it you have 3 categories. Those that sip oil, those that are built on the poor end of spec and have chronic consumption, and those rare ones that hold all of their oil. To answer your question on chances, you have a higher number of vehicles falling in the undesired sip/chronic region, so...

70k 05 Here...I haven't had to add any oil. I always perform all my own oil changes and I tracked mine often last year. I'd say go for it if the records are clean and the inspection pans out.
One more thing you can have done if you are terribly worried is perform a oil sample and send it to blackstone Labs. This will tell you if any additives were put in the oil. This is something I did, because I hate horror stories. You just have to get the seller bought into the "time" of getting the analysis back from Blackstone.
