Looking to buy this '06 G35
Hi all,
New to the G35 and this forum. I am looking at a '06 coupe at my local dealer with 142k miles on it. The guy said it was a trade in and has the documentation for service on it. Didn't ask to see it yet due to the clutch feeling funny. Not knowing how these cars are supposed to act, figured I would come on here and ask the more knowledgable people!!!!
The salesman said the clutch was about 3 months old.
The clutch is all or nothing, there is no gradual engagement. It comes about an inch or two off the floor and then fully there. Is this normal????
I looked over the rest of the car and it looks pretty good, suspension feels nice and tight, no funny noises while driving or just listening to the engine run. Looked at paint and rest of car, doesn't look like any repairs have ever been done.
Anything else I should look for? If I decide to go back, I will be asking for the service records and Carfax. He said I could get it for $12k out the door.
Thanks all for the input,
Jerry

Personally I wouldn't bother with a car with that many miles, but I usually hold on to cars for a while.
Our clutches usually have a lot of play prior to engagement. They can be a little tricky to master but nothing too difficult.
I couldn't responsibly make a definitive statement on how any particular clutch is working without testing it personally.
Def check out the carfax and service records.
With 142k miles the major known issues should have been addressed already if they were going to happen, but as always there are no guarantees.
I experienced most of the known issues for the 06' coupes and luckily had them covered under warranty.
Axle click - Fix....re-greased axle
Clutch clicking - Fix...new clutch pedal
Clutch sticking - Fix...new slave cylinder
Oil consumption issues - Fix...replace short block
The one major issue that would be a huge cost outside of warranty would be the oil consumption issue.
Verify that there were regular oil changes and check to see if they ever replaced the short or long block on the car.

Definitely going to pass on that specific one. I am going to look at an '04 tomorrow for $10k. Guy is the original owner. Will let you guys know about this one and any possible questions I might have about it! Lol
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!
Not true. 06-07 coupes have the better headlights =projectors. And a rev up engine is nothing to brag about when considering OC issues.

In fact the vast majority never experience the problem.
Personally I would go for revup engine everytime over non-rev after experiencing both, especially after mods.
EDIT: That's of course verifying that the said revup did not have any oc issues.

No doubt there. I'd choose it over a non rev any day as well
Ok, time for some schooling from the un-educated here. What are the differences of opinion on the Rev-up and non rev motors? Please, looking for facts, not just I heard from so and so. I want to make the most informed decision on which year I might be interested in. Thanks!!!!!
Nothing is different. All they did was up the rev limit in the ecu. Allowing you to rev higher than the non rev motors.
Internals are the same. This is why a lot have oil consumption issues. the geniuses at nissan didnt bother to slap in stronger rings and pistons.
