Getting a G35. 04 or 05?

So I plan on buying a G35, but I also plan on doing some drifting and such hooning, but nothing serious, just a little fun in parking lots, its not like i'm taking it to tracks often, plus I tend to drive my cars a little harder than the average driver, like i tend to shift around 3500 rpms, but idk that might be normal for you guys. All I can find are 03 and 04 models, but I've heard the models before 05 have some transmission issues. Is it worth finding an 05, or will those things not really make a difference and am I just being paranoid?

Transmission is not the issue, it's the REVUP up 6 speed in the 2005 and above. Buy a 2005 that has been fixed by a dealer or stay 04 for a full proof guarantee.

You really should just pay for a cheap track day instead of being a fool on privately owned roads...

You don't have a location listed, so it must be Midwest? Call around to body shops, you may have to drive.

I think he means his normal everyday regular shift point is 3500. Which is absolutely ridiculously unnecessary.

I shift around 2200-2500 under normal driving conditions. 3500 is a bit much every time you shift inless your driving a honda or something 4 cylinder..

Or short final drive ratio.

I shift my Mustang at 3K, but the FD is so short that i'm in 3rd by 30MPH.

I'm usually in 4th by 30mph in the G. If I'm on flat ground or a downgrade II'm in 6th by 35mph. Haha

Yeah I'm currently driving a 1.3L 4 cylinder, I guess a V6 is a little different.

Interior changes make my decision very easy, go with the 05. Sorry guys, I think the 03-04 interiors look a little dated while the 05-07 coupe interiors are far superior.

I would have to agree....although I find myself loving the exterior lines of a clean 03/04 sedan more and more these days.
