03 6mt w/82K VS 04 6mt w/65K
03 6mt w/82K VS 04 6mt w/65K
Hi there G35 driver, I have two options to choose from this time around, both cars are stock and both are one owner vehicles, autcheck/carfax gives a green on any accidents etc.
03 6mt w/ 82,000 n odo:
looks good visually, missing square cover on front bumper and debadged from rear trunk, wheels plastidipped otherwise STOCK. The driver has 36 service records from Carfax, he's been servicing it regularly since purchase until the 82K at present odo reading. 30K and 60K services have also been preformed. Does this mean tranny, coolant, and differential fluids were also replaced??? Oil changes have been regular as well until 82K.
04 6mt w/65,500 miles on odo
again looks great visually, completely stock, there was a loan or lien and I think it was repossessed. There are no service records with the vehicle, i asked the seller and he doesnt have them. They did the 170 point inspection and found nothing wrong. I have still yet to buy the $40 carfax which says they have 27 records on file for the VIN.
At 60K i know coolant, tranny, and diff fluids have to be replaced, and if not done I will have to do myself. the '04 6mt at 60k is also $1,000 cheaper.
however, on the '03 6mt with 82K miles, he's done the 30K and 60K services, im assuming these are full services...and at 82K i wouldnt have to worry about major services until 90K.
Which car would you choose??? Im pulling the trigger this Friday or Saturday.

Both sound nearly identical as far as maintenance is concerned. Do they both have the premium package and sunroof? Both equipped with Brembo brakes? It looks like it's coming down to whichever has the best options package.
yes both have brembo brakes on them, the '03 doesnt have a spoiler, while the '04 one has the "ironing board" spoiler/wing. both have sun roof windows...not sure about the fans...does the 04 definitely come with both electric fans?? thanks. im leaning more toward the '04, dealer description says it has a navigation system and hes asking $1000 less than the other one as well.
NOTE: neither of them have the popup nav screen.

I was checking FSM for the 03 Coupe, it looked like they were using dual electric fans. Could it be that the coupe comes like this, while the sedan can have the mechanical + electric setup?
I read on another forum 6MT models come with dual electric fans. Correct me if I'm wrong. The disassembly in fsm did not look it involved removing the fan from engine, ie no belts or engine mentioned in procedure. Thanks.

Might have been a sedan vs. coupe difference but I'm not 100% sure. I just know the dual electric fans can he tuned whereas the 1 mechanical with the different ECM cannot.

So I checked the coupe fsm and the sedan fsm for the 2003 model year, and yes it's a sedan thing, not a coupe one. For the 2003 sedans either AT or MT, there could be a motor or crankshaft driven fan, ie mechanical fan.
