Hi:
If you can drive a stick, get the 6mtc. The shift is a bit notchy compared to a Lotus. However, you will soon get used to it and all will be fine.
My only complaint is that the engine winds to smoothly
and you hit redline before you realize it. Not at all like the grinding hulk of a clunking Mustang engine.
Also, with no end in sight for the Iraq war and gas prices going beyond the moon, having a 6 th overdrive gear would be fine with me. But the automatics may have not have a tall overdrive either.

you're buying a sports car, get the 6mt
i dont see the point in getting an auto unless you plan to commute everday through rushhour traffic
u see people with their auto porsches n corvettes n i see it as pointless...
get the 6mt, you WILL NOT regret it, if you cant drive a stick... learn how, its worth it for this car.

I can't imagine owning a performance car with an automatic tranny. I've owned my G35 with six speed for two months, and I think the gear box is great especially for such an inexpensive car. I've owned an M3 and 996 and I've driven a Honda S2000, and the Honda was the only tranny that I found to be superior to the G35. I also like the sound of the exhaust. It's sporty but not too obtrusive. My only regret was that I didn't buy the G35 years ago. I could have saved my self a lot of money and had about the same driving pleasure.

I don't think you missed out on anything...it seems if anything, you've kept yourself well pleasured before the G; with the M, and 996

I have the 6spd, and just moved to LA. And yes it is my only car. I still do not regret it.
Shifting is not at all hard or tiring once you get used to it, and if you dont feel like doing it you can just keep the car in lower gear when in traffic.
And you cannot get nearly the same fun out of driving the G hard if you have an automatic. I know this because I drove an auto loaner as well.
One thing about LA is some of their onramps are VERY short. There is an onramp on the 101 that gives you a red light a couple of meters before you get on the freeway. In these situations, you are very glad you have a manual 6spd G35 coupe as you gun it to 60mph to join the freeway traffic.
