however, G is a great car for its price! altho i dont have one yet, it's on top of my list..hopefully in 3 to 6 months! (altho that M3 is pullin me hard too...if only its not so expensive to own)

Highway MPG on the G is excellent IMO, I get about 22-25 if I'm doing only highway.
City is another story, I get about 16.....I got that Injen Intake and I love the way the torque of the car just pulls...so i'm always flooring it. Not only that, I floor it..stop...floor it again...etc
I love that torque man!

I put tein cs on my lexus and don't have a camber problem. Will I still need camber work done if I put teins on a g35?
Will the suspension swap aleviate the uneven wear problem?
I'm like the the thread starter. Caught between two cars...the g35 and the upcoming IS350. G35 has the advantage cause it's a coupe but Lexus is Lexus.

Thanks again...
I really appreciate all your comments. I test drove a 2005 G35 coupe a few weeks ago. I want a manual, but the dealer only had automatics on hand. I was very impressd with the smoothness of the auto (I still find manual shifting much more fun to drive). Driving the car, wow, it felt terrific. I currently own a BMW and the G35 had that same driver's feedback that BMW's are famous for. The exhaust note is almost as good as the 350Z, very sweet.
I will be test driving a '06 BMW 325i next week. Going to be a tough decision, but the G35 coupe really has a lot going for it.
The BMW has it's issues also. The run flat tires it comes with are $300 each and some people are claiming they are only getting 12,000 miles on them. Yikes!
Thanks again. This has proven to be a really friendly and helpful forum.

Never had the irregular tire wear problem and I have one of the oldest coupes. Only after I dropped it did I get some inside wear, but that was fixed with control arms.
As far as gas mileage, many of us didn't buy this car for that reason. I drive very aggressively, so I'm not the guy to ask on this subject. Once you feel all that torque at your disposal around 3500 rpm, you might not want to shift. As a former E46 owner, that's something that it could never offer. When comparing the two, you can't argue with 270 ft/lbs or 260 in your case. I had three full grown men in my car the other day and this car still snapped each one of their necks back.

if you compare g35 to 325i then go for g35, as for tires g35 wears fast too and 19" isnt cheap to replace them also, but if it was bewtten 330i and g35 i'd say go with 330i i test drove the 06 330i manual, sure it doesnt feel faster compare to G35, but it's more comfortable, and on board computer shows even with hard driving it's only 11.8L/100km compre to my G35 16.3L/100 when driving hard.
If you are comparing a 330 to a G35, the 330 has a very slight edge but you will have to pay at least $8K more for a 330. There's no comparison between a G35 and a 325 except in price. The G35 is superior in every category.
not sure how you guys are getting over 20mpg for mixed driving... the only time i get over 20mpg on average is when i go maybe 90% highway...
If i just commute to/from work, i'm usually in the 19-20 range. That's with about 75% highway and 25% local traffic...
And all that is if I baby it... during a drive last month to a G35 Meet in PA, I got 12mpg lol trying to keep up with cars and accelerating definitely eats up gas... but that was before the price increase...
The highest i've ever gotten was 24.5mpg right after I filled the tank and cruised on the highway...
of course all this is from the stock navigation information. Next tank i'll calculate the exact mpg manually...

I've been watching the forums for both cars and I have 2 questions regarding the G35.
1. I was disappointed to see that it appears a fair number of owners are experiencing the same uneven tire wear the 350Z owners are getting (causing road noise). Can anyone comment on the prevalance of this condition?
2. I was also surpriesed to see that a lot of owners ae getting around 16mpg with mixed city/highway driving. Is this accurate?
I was leaning towards buying the G35 over the BMW until I saw posts about these 2 items.
Thanks

Also, the G is more fun, less luxurious, much more beautiful, less practical but an awsome machine for sure. I have a co-worker that traded his 03 3 Series for an 05 and we carpool some days, I drive the 3 and it's nice, but I would take my G hands down! He dosen't drive stick so he hasn't driven my G.
I have 6500 miles on my 05 w/19", and the tires look great.
My worst mileage on a tank was 19.5 mpg on the first tank. Since then I usually get 25-26 mpg, but I don't do much city driving. I've gotten 23-24 if I had to do a lot of city driving. The fillup yesterday was 28 mpg, which surprised me because I spent yet another day driving up, down and around a lot of mountain roads in northern NM.
