I would be extremely cautious at that price... dealers don't like losing money. Hell, they LOVE to rip-off customers. There has got to be a catch when a dearler is trying to sell a car for $5k under the book value. If not, then buy it. But check everything over before you do... 5th gear grind is not a good signal at all and having no service records after 20k is also something to suspect about.

My thinking is along the lines of yours regarding the skepticism of trying to sell at such a low price.

I went over to the Infiniti dealer where the car was being serviced and low and behold it was in the back. Aesthetically the car looks good inside and out. I will talk to them today and see what they say.

The car is sweet, but I may be more comfortable finding a car that has an impeccable service record even though it would cost more.

I should find something out today.

If you're interested, I've got a Twilight Blue '04 6MT/Graphite I'm selling. Of course it costs more, $31K is about what I need, but it's a year newer, it's got only 9600 miles!!!!, AND navigation...and I am the original owner. Impeccable is definitely the word to describe my car. Sure you pay more, but I'm still asking over $4,000 less than KBB retail, and you're getting an almost brand new car that retailed for $38,340 new. I am located in VA, though. Email me at dentistin2004@yahoo.com if interested. Car is on Autotrader under the 24551 zip.

Thanks! I actually saw yours last night when I was looking around. I'd like to see the color in person because it looks a little dark for my taste. I will look around.

I spoke with the dealership today. They said it was at Infiniti still having the synchro's changed. I will find out exactly what had to be done.

Were transmission issues something that was known with the 6 speed? To me it sounds like it might have just been "dogged out".

I sold my silver coupe with brembo and nav for 25K even at 32k miles ,,,, 27-28k is a little high for the asking price there

i will tell you since i am in the business. we do take in some cars for a lower trade in value due to mechanical or physical damage. we will however NOT sell a car that has any mechanical issues. we can also pick up a vehicle for a low value from an auction that is how it sells for so low under book. all of the preowned vehicles in my lot do get checked for mechanical as well as any structural damage before placed. i do know some dealerships that won't do that and will even sell a huffy on their lot to make money.

it all depends who owns the dealership and how reputable they really are. in my opinion, sometimes buying a used car is buying someone's else's problems.
